I don't know if this will help but let me lay out what I did.
I used DiskAid and found the Kindle App for iPhone. Within the various folders is one called Library, under that is a folder entitled "ebooks". This is where I dropped the ebook I wanted to synch. Once I did that - everything synched up. Is this where you are putting the books you want to use to go back and forth between iPhone and Kindle? I did not use the mobi2mobi app, so I cannot give you any thoughts on that tool however, I know others have used it. Once I read on the iPhone, I come out of the book and the iPhone saves to the furthest location. I go to my Kindle and once in the book, I click on "Synch to Furthest Location" and it will indicate where I left off on the iPhone which now is working and gives the correct location. I think the trick to this whole thing is placing the ebook in the correct folder under the iPhone app. I noticed in one of your earlier posts you indicated you created this folder, it should already be there. That is what I believe allows the Kindle app to "think" it is using a Amazon book. I hope this helps because I understand the need to want to get something to work. Good Luck! P.S. For the record, this didn't work on one of my books, but tried it on another and worked fine. One last thing, did you convert your books again in the latest version of Calibre, because as of version 7.something (don't remember, might be version 7.46 or 7.47) Calibre now adds automatically the ASIN which is what Amazon uses for synching. I didn't do this at first, and that was one of the problems. Re-convert the book in the latest version of Calibre to ensure it adds the ASIN and then try to re-load to the above ebook folder under your Kindle for iPhone app. I am in the process of re-converting my entire library for this one field. I'm not sure why it's not working (I don't have an iPhone to experiment) but I do know that you're wasting your time with the ISBN. The only fields that matter for this are ASIN (EXTH 113) and CDEType (EXTH 501). It obviously won't hurt to set the ISBN, but it's not necessary.

DiapDealer, thanks for the info about the ISBN. I'll stop worrying about that and start trying to find the folder Chilady is talking about.
Chilady, I think you've found my problem. I can't find any library folder. I've got DiskAid and I can find my Kindle app, but there are no folders under the Kindle folder. To make super-duper-double sure, I checked every single file/folder on my iPhone. I downloaded some books from my Amazon archive to see where they would be placed on my iPhone, but I couldn't find them either. Do you know if Amazon places the actual files on the iPhone? You're right about needing this to work. It really bugs me when I can't figure something out. I might seldom use the sync feature, but by golly I want to know that it works! I'll keep posting my progress. |

@light - Yes, I did jailbreak my iPhone but in one of the other threads that I read, I didn't think it was necessary to make the synching work.
Here's something else I thought of: Got this from Carol (whose help was invaluable getting this to work). When using DiskAid, she indicated that you should go into Preferences and under the VIEW tab, ensure you check off the box next to: Show root path for Apps. I started thinking about that when you said you could not find the folder under Library called ebooks. See if that allows you to see all of the directories and folders and let me know. You do realize that you are closer than you think - lol! |

Chilady, I've just completed the jailbreak on my iPhone because I figured that was part of the problem. I wasn't seeing the root. I'm going in...update when I return.

YES!
Jailbreaking my iPhone solved the problem. I couldn't see the root so I couldn't put the files in the correct location. After jailbreaking, I put the files in the correct location and things started happening. Chilady, you and DiapDealer have been great for help and hand holding. Thanks! |

Even though in one of your posts you said you wanted to get it to work even though you probably wouldn't use it much - trust me, you will use it more than you think. I love being able to synch books! |

Also another thing I discovered. Hopefully this may help someone else. I had some books from Smashwords that were not syncing. Since they already were DRM-free and in .mobi format, when I entered them into Calibre they did not have to be converted, so Calibre never 'fixed' the ASIN # thingy. After I reconverted them and added them again everything worked as it should. Carol |

Carol,
You're right! Setting the "show root path of apps" option is key when using DiskAid. I'm delighted that my sync works now! |
