Touchscreen without a physical keyboard taking up space for me. I agree it's simply personal preference here for everyone what they choose.

I use my reader just for reading. I don't need, or want, a keyboard taking up valuable space. The Kindle was not an option for me because of it (among other factors). When I do use the touchscreen keyboard on the Sony, yes, there's some lag, but you don't need to stop typing because of it... the keystrokes have always caught up to me after I finished, so I really don't see any advantage over the speed of a physical keyboard input.

But again, personal preference for each of us, which probably also is based on what other devices we have. My phone is more than enough for my little bit of internet use (I should clarify, little use while outside), so I really don't have any need to want any net access on my reader.

I would suggest that what works best for any individual is highly influenced by how that individual intends to use the device. For me, size and ergonomics are much more important than note taking or 3G. In fact, I would never use 3G, even if I did have it, because I use Calibre to organize my books and fix their metadata. I have arthritic thumbs that really don't like pushing buttons. In addition, I've always held a book at the bottom, so that's where I like to find the page turn. All of this means that, for me, there is nothing about the Kindle that would attract me. The keyboard adds to the size, the page turn buttons are up and in the middle, and you have to push a button to turn the page. My Sony is smaller, has the same screen size, allows me to turn the page with a light brush against the screen, and puts the page turn button at the bottom, where I tend to hold the reader. Since my primary purpose is to read books and I don't need a keyboard for that, I wouldn't buy a reader with a keyboard.

Touch screen for me, but other than flipping pages, the only time I use the touch screen is when I select a new book. If I took notes or used the dictionary, I could see the need for the keyboard.

I ask because I am curious. I hold my DXG differently then I held my K1 because of the size difference. I end up holding the DXG on the side but I had held the K1 on the keyboard. The K1 keyboard locked itseld when you were reading unless you went to do a search or some other function.

Does the K3 lock the keyboard when you are reading?

Zarich if you are asking in an effort to help you decide, you might as well flip a coin as you will see preferences both ways.

personally i give a slight nod to the keyboard, although i have read multiple books on my K3 and have yet to use the keyboard.

other factors (fonts, page turning, price, size/weight, wifi) are more important to me.

Personally having played with all 3 I find the keyboard to be superior. It is insanely fast with little to no lag. Where the keyboard fails is web surfing. However since all e-ink devices suck at web surfing I consider it a non issue.
The tiny color lcd control idea works okay, but it is clunky and slow in comparison. The full screen touch is nice, but I have found it more frustrating as at times it is unresponsive or misreads your intent and I find myself back spacing to get the correct area I originally wanted.

The keyboard is the least appealing aesthetically, but for me makes the most sense for fast accurate control on these types of devices.

Your opinions?

Anyone know where i can ask Q about ipad or its best competitor (Notion Adam Ink tablet) from an Indian company?

No.. I was just curious. My decision has been left up to my wife since I am indecisive as all these devices are good.

Ditto here, gimme the KB anytime.

But I have to agree that the Apple iPad touch screen is pretty awesome. Typing on the iPad is still somewhat problematic... I have to watch that darn autocorrect all the time. And it's slower than typing on a real KB too.
