But, you see, I don't need phenomenal memory.
I used to have real problems with remembering about the book I was reading last. There were so many in my house that I couldn't remember which one I was on, or if I left it by the bed or in the bathroom, and then when I did find it I couldn't remember which chapter I read last. I thought for awhile about spending some money on a course, but then it turned out that the person asking had spammed it all over different forums having nothing whatsoever to do with memory. And strangely enough those questions were the only posts of the asker. And then others registered to make one or two posts about that same website the first person had not-so-cleverly associated into the question - and still nothing about what the forum was all about.... But then I bought a Sony Reader. Now all my books are in one unit. And the unit's always with me, so I don't need to worry about where I left it. When I return to a title in the unit's memory, the first option to select is to Continue Reading on the last page I visited. So I don't think I need a memory course, and I can stay nice and skeptical. Oh, and it has nothing to do with the website or if it's a scam or not. The skepticism is simply about what appears to be none-too-well-done guerilla marketing, is all. |

As Harry said, if it looks like chicken at a Chinese restaurant, it may be Garfield on your fork.

One of the benefits I've found of, shall we say, "advancing middle age", is that the resulting "decline" in one's memory (which has been very noticable in my case) allows me to enjoy reading old books all over again, because I don't remember the endings

Me too! See all the money you save by not taking the course! All those re-reads are books you don't have to buy. The good news is I can re-read the Travis McGee series every ten years!

Yes, it is true. My forgettery is more powerful than my memory.

-- So, what do we have here?
-- You see, doctor, I'm getting these memory gaps lately... -- Oh. Do you get them often? -- Them? -- Well, the gaps. -- What gaps?! |

A retired pharmacist was having trouble with his memory. He couldn't remember anything and his wife was having trouble with her memory, too.
The pharmacist read in the paper one evening about a memory doctor who could help restore memory. He called his wife over and told her to read the ad. She thought it sounded pretty good and said, "I think we ought to see that doctor." He said, "I think we should, too." So, they went to see the memory doctor. After seeing the doctor for about 6 weeks, the pharmacist and his wife went down to the senior citizen centre and ran into one of their old friends. The friend said, "I understand you're going to the memory doctor." The pharmacist said, "Yes, that's right; we're both going." His friend asked, "Is he any good?" "Is he any good?" said the pharmacist, "He's the best doctor we've ever been to, he's really good!" His friend said, "You know, I'm having trouble with my memory, too. I think I ought to see that doctor. What's the doctor's name?" The pharmacist hesitated, "What's the doctor's name...what's the doctor's name?" He said, "Look, there's a flower with a real long stem, the stem has little green leaves and there are thorns sticking out of the stem. At the top of the stem is a big bulb flower that comes in all different colours. What do you call that?" His friend said, "Why, that's a rose." The pharmacist said, "Yeah, that's right, rose." He turned to his wife and said, "Hey, Rose, what's the name of that doctor we've been going to?" |

Great joke, except thats how I am.
On a slightly different track I improved my memory hugely and it was easy and cheap. I bought one of those new seagate 1 terrabite drives. |

^ Mmm, nice!
I tried doing that, but cutting the hole to stick the IDE connector into my hippocampus hurt too much. ![]() |

School of Phenomenal Memory = scam.
Hey there guys,
This is my first post to this forum, and I haven't provided an introduction. I'm also dragging up a very old thread, and I apologise for this also. I think it's justified, because I'm essentially warning people of a scam. The reason I say this is a scam is not because of the product (though I should mention that it didn't work for me, and that it is really only a modified method of loci system, with some bells and whistles attached), but because the money-back guarantee is not a money-back guarantee. Despite the website’s claim that: Quote:
Additionally, if you dispute this on the forums, your account will be banned, and the post immediately deleted. Again, this is my experience. Moreover, one should bear in mind that the “testimonials” in the forum are compulsory for the students to receive the next installment of their course. Thus, you should take everything said with a pinch of salt. Again, sorry for the "one hit wonder", but it may well end up saving people ~£150. Paraselene. |
