@digiSara
I'm in the U.S. and I just looked up that title on kobobooks.com and it says right on the information page for that book "Download options: Adobe DRM EPUB."

http://kobobooks.com/ebook/The-Birth...KFg/page1.html

So it should be availalbe. Have you called their customer service yet?

Yes, that's right. The Borders site actually said it had a Desktop and an epub version of the book, but it's only after you've added to your library and get to the download screen that I found out there was only the option to download the desktop version.

I think it was a mistake on the Borders site to say that the epub is available even though it wasn't.

Oh well, I was just testing out Borders to see what the experience was like, so I tried it with one of their free books first. But it wasn't good since I don't like having to stick with reading on the Kobo/Borders Appz.

I think I am more happy with other ebook sellers that allow you to select the format you want before it's added to your cart and that you get to download a physical file. I like to be able to transfer the file freely between the computer and the various mobile devices.

Hi digiSara - it looks like a brief glitch on our site. If you follow the link, you'll see an ePub available now. Sorry for the confusion!

Have looked again but don't see an epub version - are you sure it wasn't on the US site (libdude further up in the thread said it was available on the US site) but I can't see it on the Canadian site.

I did raise a ticket but was just told that it is up to the publisher to provide them with an epub version.

Hi Sara,

Can you send me your ticket number so I can assist further? I've just successfully purchased and downloaded the epub for this title.

Best,
Ashleigh

Maybe I should get a ticket. I registered for the first time on the Kobo site today, because I'd seen a Nookdeals post about a book I wanted and there was a $2 off code. So I signed up, purchased the book, entered the code and payment info and thought I had a .39 cent ebook that I wanted. (I already own a paperback version, but at that price, why not have it on my Nook?)

However, there appears to be no way to get it on my Nook! There is NO download option. I looked in my online library and it is there, but there is no way to download it to ADE and transfer it to my reader. Further, there was nothing on the site that said the title couldn't be downloaded! If it was not available as an Adobe DRM epub file, then there should be a warning prior to purchase!

Should I file a ticket? Can they straighten this up? I like the idea of buying some books on the site, but not if I can't download them and get them on my reader!

Edit: The title in question is "The Clutter Diet" by Lorie Marrero.

Actually they normally DO indicate if a book has an ePub available. Try searching for instance for "Icons Of England" by Bill Bryson.

Here it shows "Download options: Adobe DRM EPUB" and also "Read this on Desktop eReaders Smartphones Tablets".

The first option means that yes, a standard EPUB is available, protected by ADE, and the next set of options implies what we call a kePub (for Kobo ePub).

Your book only lists "Read this on Desktop eReaders Smartphones Tablets" so no ePub.

I think thought that Kobo customer service will help you out here, so DO open a ticket!

But if you click on the "more" under "eReaders" it states: "eReading Devices
You can read this item on your Kobo eReader (or other select electronic reading devices). The Kobo eReader lets you carry your whole library with you, so that you can read on the go. Check out our demo for more information!"

It's not that obvious when there is no ePub option (unless you know to look for missing information). It could be made clearer.

The helpdesk should help with this though.

You got it in one! As someone who had never visited the site before, the notation that it could be read on an e-reader made me assume that I would be downloading an Adobe DRM epub. Because of not being familiar with the site, I had no idea that there was some other weird format available that was only good for reading through my browser. Trust me, if that had been clear, I'd not have purchased! I assumed once purchased, that I'd be able to click a download link in my online library. And that's where I discovered that I couldn't download it.

Not sure if the 39 cents is worth the bother of doing a ticket or not, but I may, if only to let the powers that be know they need to make the site more clear on what you are getting.

Hey I had the same problem with "FILTH", there's no Epub option, I only have SONY PRS505 which supports Epub. http://www.kobobooks.com/ebook/Filth...SJQ/page1.html

I just bought The Birth House too and it was fine for me. Maybe there's a problem with the file.

edit: I just looked at The Birth House in My Library when I signed in at Kobo and there's *no* download option next to it as there is with the other books. So I guess if I want or need to download it again, I'm out of luck too. It was there originally, however, because it's currently on my Kobo.

edit again: It's on my kobo app too. I guess what that means is that I can't download it to ADE or calibre.
