I received mine today too. It looked like it was in the original packaging and had never been used. Also, the ebay listing advertised them as "new" not refurbished.I am loving it so far. I have ordered a class 6 micro sd card for rooting it so right now I am enjoying the stock system.

Those who received your ebay Color Nook - did you get a shipping notice beforehand ?
Thanks. |

I had this exact same question until I checked my ebay account this morning and found that they had printed out a shipping label and marked it shipped during the night. So check your won/purchased items in your ebay account. There should be a USPS DC# there once they've gotten around to your order. I wouldn't mind the wait so much if it weren't for the fact that others who purchased after I did were already leaving glowing "fast shipping" feedbacks. I was beginning to think my Feb 28th order had gotten lost in the shuffle somewhere. |

Edit: Actually, I think there was only one person claiming that they had received a refurb nook color. Last edited by amujee; 03-04-2011 at 02:42 PM. |

Do you think BN was trying to unload these fearing that if everyone bought iPads, they'd be stuck with a warehouse filled with nooks? its just a thought. I missed out on the deal. didn't realize it was over at 8am

Actually, I bought a Refurb Nook Classic from B&N for my wife for Christmas, and it looked brand new. In actuality, I expect that a handful of working returned Nook Colors were judged "like new" by someone at one of the warehouses and those were sent out amongst the 11,000. Certainly it is unlikely there was even 1,000 returned units (that were working), let alone 11,000 and no way they could be processed as "certified refurbished" considering that the product has only been available for 3 months. |

I'd buy a refurb NC anytime. I bought a couple of refurb stuff (notebook, videogame), and they last even longer than regular stuff (notebook, 12 years, videogame 8 years).

As would I for the right price. I have no problems with factory refurbs. They are just as good as new. I avoid store "refurbs" which are just trash.

In Australia we dont have refurbs. And I think any issue with this ebay sale is that they were advertised as new, not refurbs.

I think to root the nook a lower class micro sd card is fine. People are getting higher ratings to load their apps on, even movies, so they run better.

If you are planning to run a different version of Android (such as Froyo or Honeycomb) off an SD card and/or want to use the card as extended storage for loading apps/movies, you will probably want a faster card. Class 2 is probably too slow. Class 4 may be okay but some report a lag running Froyo on it. Likewise, some report issues running Honycomb/Froyo from Class 10. Hence the general recommendation is Class 6 for now. |

Notes: SD/SDHC come in three sizes; standard, mini and micro. The read speed is always greater than the write speed. MB and Mb are not the same. In all cases, the upper case "B" are bytes and the lower case "b" are bits (8bits = 1Byte). Video cameras typically specify speed in "mbs" which means you have to divide by 8 and round up to determine the speed class requirement. Regards - John |
