Good to know; I'll have to try that with my Verizon Samsung. Would be great if that would also work with the e-reader. At home with the PC handy it's no problem charging from the computer, but will be traveling the next 2 weeks and while there will be some computer access, it won't be consistent so would be nice to have a wall charger for the PRS-350.

The AC charger from my Blackberry Tour works fine so I don't need any extra chargers.

Tried my cell phone chargers but no luck. Bought a wall charger today and ordered expedited shipping next business day since leaving Wednesday for Alaska. Didn't think to buy this sooner, darn it. Hopefully will get in in time. Will be nice to spend some time reading on the plane/at the airport since there will be some time before/between flights; don't use the reader daily and always near a computer at home so just wasn't thinking about the wall charger. Oh well! Glad I found this thread; even if I don't get it in time for the trip I'm sure it will be put to good use later.

Did you check if the little red light at the top glows when you plug it in? When you charge the reader through the charger, it doesn't change the screen to say "Charging battery" like it does when you connect it to the USB cable. You can turn the reader on and actually read while it's charging from the AC adapter.

Another positive indication that you ARE definitely charging the battery is that, if the reader is turned on, you will see the battery symbol go solid with a little triangular arrow head pointing at it to indicate that charge current is flowing into the battery.

If you don't see this and you don't have a red light on top, then maybe there is a charging issue, and if you wait a short time the reader will probably pop up a message and complain that it can't find a charger.

The first charger I tried for my PRS-650 was an old apple compatible USB and it did not work.

Whenever I connected the apple charger, the 650 would pop up a message saying specifically that it was NOT CHARGING.

So if your PRS-x50 doesn't like the charger it should tell you.

If the reader doesn't complain, the red light should go on and the battery Icon should show that it is charging, until charging is complete.

Then, when charging is complete, the red LED goes out and the battery icon will show a full charge.

Thank you both for this information. I tried my cell phone charger again and I do see the red light and also the solid battery icon with the arrow. Now I am trying to get my expedited order cancelled--may be too late, but I'll give it a shot.

Later...was able to reach the company and get my wall charger order cancelled. Cell phone/e-reader charger is already packed.
