I don't read every day, but when I do read it's usually a couple of hours instead of watching TV.

Usually 2-3 books/week, depending on what I'm reading. Some easy reads I really speed-read and finish i a couple of hours, other books may take me a week. When reading something that needs more "thought" I usually have something light going at the same time. Like a short story collection, or funny quotes or something like that. That's one of many things that's so great with an eReader: It's so easy to have a number of books at hand at the same time. |

Usually I read a book (300-400 pages) every week or so. But since December I've been unemployed and increasingly suffering from insomnia, so I'm currently on my 45th book of the year.

Wow I love to read... I carry my tablet always in my bag/purse, actually I like big purses for that. Everytime I have at least 3 minutes I reach for it.

I really like reading in the morning, to start the day. I'll do 30-90 minutes then, and I try to get another half hour to an hour in in the evenings. Weekends I can read more, if I don't have stuff going on. Typically I read 8-12 books a month.

I only get to read about one a week. Mostly at lunch at work while I eat. If its bad outside, rain, lighting, cold and bleak I like to sit on the sofa and read and listen to music. The thing is I tend to flip around with a part of a magazine, a comic book, TPB, and some ebooks, some mail, some internet...you get the idea. This is why I love my iPad. My house is all WiFi and I stream from my computer. I tend to NOT sit and read a book from cover to end without interruption.

On the average, 2-3 books a week. When I was in the hospital, 2-3 books a day (nothing to do but read). All of this varies depending on the availability of time.

I'd say most evenings I get in anywhere from 1 - 3 hours of reading, sometimes more if I'm really into what I'm reading. The speed I read at also is affected by how absorbed I am in the book. To give you an example, two books I just read back to back by the same author, both about the same length (5000ish locations on the kindle). Same genre, both light reading and fluff. One took me 3 days. The other I read in one sitting. I find I lose myself in my 'book' much more readily now with the kindle since I don't notice that I'm progressing through the book, I just read and suddenly I realize that my progress bar is at 90% and I've been reading for 3 hours and didn't even notice time fly by! With a paperback my hand would get tired, I'd lose my place when turning pages or I'd be more aware that I'd been reading for so long I'd made it half way through a 400 page book and stop to do something else.

I have taken to buying bigger purses, so I can always have my kindle with me. On the train, waiting in the Dr. office, waiting to pick up my daughter . . . I read about 250 pages a day - I know that, because that is the length of the cheap romanaces I have knocking out at one a day. Since I need to start my charity knitting, I will be going to longer, denser books, and may only read 200 pages a day. Of course, baseball season starts soon, and I knit while watching the Cubs, so maybe I can keep this pace up.

I love to fall asleep reading. To me, that is the best way to fall asleep. But I really want to finish the book! So I will race to the end, and still not be ready to fall asleep. So I start another. My sleep would be better if I would pick longer books! |

I read just over 100 last year, but I am a natural speed reader and can read a shorter book in one sitting.

My goal this year is to clear out as much of the backlog of unread books (especially the more junky kind) as I can so I can spend more time on the meatier/more edifying reads. In the past, I over-bought since things were so cheap, and now I want to clear out the backlog and be more discerning in my choices of what I read. |
