I've never come across a free e-book site that restricted downloads... is that because I'm in Australia, or because I'm ignorant? Is there a complete [well more or less] list of such sites?

Have a browse of some of the links in my signature line - You may find some goodies in our 'Author Promo' and 'freebies' threads (links main page) ... and there is the Mobileread Library, dedicated to one of our members, Patricia (sadly no longer with us).

Look at Bewrite.net (neilmarr on MR) Read this thread ....

You seem to have got that one wrong. We were talking about downloading free books from commercial sites like Amazon, Sony and B&N. Almost always the free Amazon books are georestricted.

Thanks for this information. Smashwords are having an e-book week with freebies http://ebookweek.com/... in fact they always have loads of free titles on their site: http://www.smashwords.com/

It's unclear to me how Borderlinx works. Your credit card would still have an unaccepable billing address which is what, Sony, for example, checks...no? Or do you have to use Google checkout with which I'm unfamiliar?
