Since she hasn't said any more, either she was on Ambien and has no memory of writing it so no reason to check the thread... OR ... many Kindles are in danger.

so is a kindle screen actually made from glass or is it a hard plastic?

funny related story:
I fell asleep reading my first kindle 2 while smoking and woke up to find a centimeter long burn on the bezel but the screen was fine... funny 'cause I didn't die in a inferno right? har har..
anyway, it sure seems like glass but kinda feels like plastic to me.

I think it's a glass substrate with the screen on top (so it's easy to scratch, too).

A friend of mine had his kindle screen broken by his four year old son and he called Amazon to find out how much it would cost to repair... turns out that since it was in the first year of ownership they just sent him a new one for free. So anyone with a broken screen may want to contact Amazon and see if they can get the same deal. This was only about 3 months ago so I imagine that it's still available...

I dropped my pocket sony on our ceramic tiled floor and no cover on it at the time and fortunately it was fine afterwards but i also think a broken screen would sound like a lot of crying (at least in this household).
