I know you have found a solution, but for anyone that isn't comfortable with the command line (like me) Karen's Directory Printer is a nice program. It's very customizeable as to what you want to include in your list. You can print the list or you can save it to file. I have used it, then opened it with Open Office, and it worked pretty well.
