You can better use notepad++ or another good editor instead of notepad. It handles unicode way better....

Here is my basic technique for converting text to epub:
  • Open file in basic text editor (MultiEdit, Zeus, EditPlus, JEdit).
  • Select all the text I want for the final epub file at one time into the clipboard.
  • Create a new file in Sigil.
  • Paste the text into 1 HTML file.
  • Save.
  • (You can now cut/paste more to the end.)
  • Now add in the stylesheet if any. Save.
  • Scroll through the first HTML file to find chapter breaks. Use the "Insert Chapter Break" menu item to create a second HTML file.
  • Highlight the "Chapter NN" and use the combo-box to make it a heading for the table of contents.
  • Repeat until all the chapters are defined.
  • Save

I like Zeuse (I paid $25 for it) but a co-worker loves JEdit because it works on PC, Mac and Linux which we bounce between.

You can also either paste text into an Open Office document and save it as an html file then import it into sigil to add the headings.

Does anyone know if Sigil can add DRM to an epub file. I have a ebook in epub format and want to limit the ability to transfer the file.
thanks

NO!

Give Adobe a bucket load of money for tools to DRM your book.
Then watch it be cracked within a short time.

Kiss those $$ away. DRM is bad for the buyer AND the seller.
