B&N in NYC are full with as much NC as you want to buy.
Just checked 2 stores.
One on 3rd Ave and one at Union Square.
Not much buyers there over the weekend.

The NYC stores (mostly, other big cities to some extent) are big priorities to the company. I imagine as soon as stock ran low, they overnighted a few cases. In some instances, B&N will get UPS to deliver on the weekends. I expect all stores will be stocked up in the next day or so.

was there yesterday (3rd Ave) to buy a second data/charger cable.
they still have lots of nc's - but no cables left. they are on backorder

i asked if they know about a shortage or a pull off shelves of the nc's and they did not know anything about that.

I am a newbie to nook color I just got one a few days ago and toying with the idea of rooting I am not very techie. However I hear that early March the new software update 2.2 is suppose to come out. Should I wait for the update or root now. Also can anyone tell me how to delete the sample books and other files on my nook without using my computer?

Dude, why would you wait for a software update to "root" it? Just install honeycomb and be done with it. B&N should catch up to that in about a year or two. You'll find much more support for your questions on xda.
