I have the PRS 950 and I am having trouble syncing my laptop's reader library to my actual reader. Pretty frustrated. Can someone help me because Sony's customer service reps were not able to? It reads processing but nothing every happens. Have been processing the last 2 days.
How can I change my path whereby my books are downloaded to? |

I think you have a bad epub file that is gumming up the works. Do you have sync turned on in the Sony software? Turn it off. (this may delete all the books from your reader but do not be alarmed, you can just copy them again). Start copying the books over one at a time. When the processing hangs on one file, you know that is the bad file. Delete the epub and download it over again from wherever you got it.

The only time I use the Reader Library (RL) is to manage ebooks purchased from the Sony Store. The rest of the time, I use Calibre to manage my ebook collection.
I prefer Calibre over the RL for several reasons: - The RL tends to be sluggish. When I take an action (such as adding ebooks to a collection) often it will take several seconds for the RL to complete the action, so I made it a habit to take an action then wait until it is finished before taking another action. Calibre usually works much faster, and I can stack actions rather than having to take one action at a time. - I can edit the metadata (such as adding an author) for ebooks in Calibre, something I can't do with the RL. - The method of creating collections via tagging is much easier than the RL method of creating a collection and then dragging and dropping the ebooks into the collection. - Using Calibre to send ebooks to my ereader works much better than the RL method of either dragging and dropping the ebook on to my ereader or syncing my ereader with the RL. I haven't used Calibre to convert ebooks since my ebooks are already formatted for my ereader (I format them as PDFs specifically for my ereader). It's a feature I'm likely to give a try in the future if I find PDF doesn't meet my needs or if space becomes an issue. Although I haven't made use of all of Calibre's features, I've found it much better than the RL for my ebook management tasks. |
