In 0.7.43 you will see an alert popup with that description when importing metadata if LT is blocking your request.

The current plugin goes directly to the LT website. If someone can get a response from LT saying that they are OK with having users sign up for API keys, I'll be happy to change the plugin to use a user provided API key, it's actually a lot easier to program.

Thanks - sounds like I need to do a bit more tinkering.

This is the alert I was referring to.

Thanks - still not updating series info for me here. I can login via the web pages @ LT and see the series info when I search for the book there.

But nothing from the plugin. I can see it making a network connection out to LT (not looked at that traffic yet) but no error from the plugin and no series data.

Tried it on my usual windows calibre setup and also on a fresh install within Ubuntu - same result. More digging required! Checking out the source just now to see if I can add some output to the plugin.

Sorry if this is a bit innocent, but can the API be changed so that it has an option to upload as well. That way there is less of a leeching feeling from LT's perspective, which looks like it might be the root of the issue.

It is a nice idea on the surface. but I am not so sure about GIGO factor

I see the same series referred to by different names (Even by the PUBLISHER ).

Can you imagine what happens if J.Q. Public supplied their (series) names
My names get shortened:
"A Novel of the ... saga"
Gets entered as: "... saga"

A series in my collection will Never have "series" in it's series name

Then there is the 'Index' number OMG.
some people Integer number anything published between full releases, others use decimal, Then there is the Omnibus re-release Vol 1+2+3 in 1 volume
my 2cents

I have just been playing with DLing covers from Library Thing.

It seems to allow two - three requests, then it blocks, and opens again in about 5 minutes (not exactly, but just playing).

So maybe just setup the plug in to run two requests, wait 5 minutes and run the next two. It would take a while, but my computer is on 24/7, so not a big deal for me.

The plugin looks up :

http://www.librarything.com/isbn/<booksisbnnumber>

i.e

http://www.librarything.com/isbn/242525252525 (made up isbn number!)

You can force LT to start working again by issuing a query above in your normal web browser and filling in the captcha it presents, this will 'reset' your grace and you should be good for a few more queries.

Is the LibraryThing plugin no longer supported?
