@durtreg,

Please refer back to my original instruction post. I anticipated (wrongly as it turns out) that we may have a dialogue about how to include Series info in the displayed titles on the Sony. If you don't want/need to do that I think it may be better to explicitly specify what you do want for Titles, so I've detailed basic settings in the edited earlier post.

Hi

What I did so far:

- resending my collection on Linux resulted in not updating the pdf, however that version is the one that comes with the distribution and not the newest one from the calibre webpage

- I downloaded the actual current version from here and did a complete resend. Now the PDF metadata are updated in the pdf itself

- I was not successful in preserving my bookmarks when deleting and resending my books from the device. Just keeping the "Sony Reader" Folder that lies amongst the books is obviously not sufficient.
This has the implication that I am not able to experiment much further. Because each time I do a complete resend, my bookmarks are lost.
However I discovered that the bookmarks are in fact saved in a folder called "Digital Editions". I try to preserve this folder as well, the next time I wipe my reader.

- I also set up the plugboard as jackie_w suggested. I am not sure how to test it. Maybe I need to connect to unrelated fields like title and publisher to actually have a difference between the pdf and the information the plugboard manages - this way I could confirm that the plugboard works. However this is yet to do

This means that my original post centereing around pdf metadata is resolved. It does not happen with the current windows version and neither with a current Linux version.

I will again post here if the plugboard doesn't work as expected or if the reader and the library again start to differ over time.

Thank you all for your quick and insightful help

Glad it works.

This may be expected behaviour. On my reader, Calibre wipes not only the book, but also related files (the device stores a thumbnail and reading progress). If the Sony driver does the same, then your bookmarks would be deleted each time you delete a book via Calibre. Saving the relevant files manually before deleting might work for the sake of experimentation.
