This is what is discussed here. A non techie aunt and a reader that is able to lend from the library. Given this the Sony PRS 950 does everything she asked for. Easy handling, easy buying, easy lending, easy downloading. Only one program need to operate it and that is easy to handle, too.

Personally I do have all these twitching and turning programms on my netbook and do the DRM-thingy but this is not what was asked for by the OP.

I know, I made a suggestion further up the thread for the OP. (Essentially: Let her play with a few different types. Different people will find different things easy.) I was just clarifying for ProfCrash's question. I would guess that when he saw people talking about using ADE with Sony readers, it was people who are using Calibre rather than the Sony software, and I wanted to make that clear for him.

I recommend taking her someplace where she can try out devices. If I had gone solely by specs, I may have ended up with the Nook instead of the Sony 650. I would have ended up returning the Nook due to it just not really being workable for me. I find there is so much personal preference involved in getting a device. Ultimately, she'll make the one chosen work for her.

+1

So many people, especially older people, have their druthers as to weight, and ease of handling and turning pages. The screen clarity might also make a difference.

Since you mention your aunt's in Vancouver, she can go to the West Vancouver Memorial Public Library to borrow a Kindle, or try Sony and Kobo readers in-branch.

They've got more info at the bottom of the page here, plus some decent how-to-use-this tips for beginners regarding the BC-wide e-book lending program on a special wiki they've set up here.

Update: I let her try a few, and she fell in love with the Kindle. With MY Kindle, in fact I had just gotten a Kindle 3 and was about to pitch my Kindle 2 onto Craigslist and when I mentioned that, she immediately pulled out her wallet and asked me how much I wanted for it. She said she is very particular about what she reads and would rather just buy it. Once she had satisfied herself that the Kindle store had sufficient Ekhart Tolle to keep her occupied, she had me help her set up an Amazon.com account and re-register the Kindle to her, whereupon she immediately purchased 5 books!

And she still wants an iPad, in addition. We're doing that this week. LOL What monster have I unleashed?

It sounds like you are a great nephew and that she is very lucky.
