That's what I was thinking. If anyone actually does this they are a real sucker.

Depends on what you want out of tech, I figure. If you're already happy with what you're using, is it nostalgia or practicality to want to keep using it?

Of course they will. Just notice how nostalgic people are about horses.
Nobody seems to take into account shovelling heaps of manure, loading hay (allergy to pollen, anyone?).
Nobody seems to know that at the peak of horse-and-buggy era streets were ankle deep filled with horse manure and that NYC had to remove hundreds of dead horses from the streets. Every single day.

Nope, I don't need to be nostalgic about horses. We are the only one in the neighborhood without a horse. We like our alpacas and sheep a lot more and they don't eat nearly as much :-) We are also going to be the only one without horses in our new neighborhood...

That the article made me pleased I had switched to an ereader! The comments about needing a wheelbarrow and bringing a friend to help carry out all the books reiminded me of exactly why I purchased an ereader in the first place.

I'm very glad that I don't have to carry around a huge stack of books anymore!

Right, but it's all the same either way, if not more if they just return the Kindle to Amazon. They can then spend $140-190 at the bookstore if they REALLY want to promote indep biz, rather than giving a Kindle with an unknown but definitely lesser value.

If I were interested in what the bookstore sold, I'd just trade the Kindle and save myself the trouble of returning it to Amazon. To each his own, though.

Fortunately, returning a Kindle isn't any trouble. The return shipping is paid for, all you have to do is print out the label and tape it to the box it came in. As soon as they receive it, they refund your money. It's so easy, a monkey could do it

Now that would be a great deal. I am sure I have $139 worth of deadwood books on my shelves. I have been considering donating them to the local library but then I'd need that wheelbarrow to get them there.

A monkey might, but I wouldn't, lol. If I wanted the bookstore merchandise, I'd trade 'em the Kindle. If not, I'd give the Kindle to someone who'd enjoy it.

I'm planning to unload about 80% of my dt books. I am going to give some to the local university and will give others to be sold at fundraisers for the international school that my children went to.

Thanks a lot.
