Can you elaborate on this?

Is it due to the format? LRF vs. ePUB? Maybe the size of the book? Is it downloads from the store site, or books already on your PC being transferred to the Reader App? Etc.

TIA.

I've only glanced at it, but it seems to work OK that I've noticed.

I realize this thread is old, but I've only recently tried this app. I also have this issue that not all of my purchased books show in the app Library. I have googled a bit on the internet and discovered that other people have had the same problem. Some people can download hundreds of books and others like me only get a handful. If I purchase a book through the app, then it will add it to my library. Thus I have a large gap between now and purchases from 2007.

I realized something interesting today. I have books that have never been converted from LRX to EPUB and still say "Available Soon" on my account's download page. The first book that is not available as an EPUB is the point at which I can't see any more of my library on the Android app. Seems like an interesting coincidence! Perhaps it chokes because it doesn't know what to do with that book?

I agree that this app is really lacking in features. However, it does synch with the 950 (which I have and do most of my reading on), and it would be nice to occasionally use this app's sync feature for night reading on my Android device.

I suspect everyone else has probably given up on this app and moved on to more capable ones...

Does the app read LRX/LRF files at all?

If not, you may be right that this is the issue.

The app was released six months ago and it's still version 1.0. That tells it all.

Yep, I'm afraid so! It's really annoying not to see your whole library. I'll just move on like everyone else and use a different app. Disappointing since synching with your e-reader actually works with this app unlike some other devices.

I kind of wonder: why? Is there any ebook available for it that you can't get from Kindle or perhaps even Nook?

in any case, I find the position of multipurpose devices a better one than Kindle users being stuck with a device that pretty much only displays what Amazon provides...

Am I dreaming or did they say they would release an app for iPad as well? Any idea what happened with that?

Thanks for that link - that explains it.

Well, kind of. I mean, it explains what happened to the app. But not why Apple would enforce this arbitrarily on SONY.

How is this different than my reading the Economist (to which I subscribe outside of the apple store) on its dedicated app? Or watching Netflix or HBO (separate subscriptions). Or the magazine on Zinio? Or the Kindle app, as the article itself mentions?

Makes very little sense. Not the first time, with Apple, but surely there has to be some other criterion - such as simply not wanting to do business with another tech gadget manufacturer.

Because the quoted article does a very poor job of explaining why the Sony app was rejected. It allowed purchases direct from Sony in the app itself. That is not allowed, and never has been, even before the new subscription policies. You could use Apple's in-app purchase system, or redirect to Safari to buy from a website (as Amazon do), or just offer subscriptions outside the app, with no link to buy from within the app (as Netflix do, I believe).

It's Sony. We, the ebook crowd, know how eager they are to support their software issues

THANKS! For that bit of info, I have been trying to figure out how to do that very thing. None of the commercial readers allow side loading. Great if all you want to do is buy new.

It's a bit quirky for side loading though. Seemingly you can only sideload the books inside a certain folder. Not a biggie, but still...
