This has nothing to do with book banning. I would hate someone from another country to take the heading of this thread seriously and wonder just how many books have been banned in the US (since it implies there have been others). In the US we take first amendment rights very seriously but this is a copyright issue. The government is not banning anything.

I think that's an important question. I think you can argue that there have been books banned by the government. Not at a federal level, of course, but certainly there have been books banned in libraries or in schools. As agents of the government, I think that qualifies, doesn't it?
