Alas, I currently have four ebooks in 'limbo' at fictionwise that I bought before giving up (they're one of the reasons I've stopped). They're paid for and in my bookshelf, but I can't download them.
I have not bought books from Fictionwise for a long time.
If you get a credit card check instead of a download link in your bookshelf, the workaround was to download the books using www.hidemyass.com.
I do not know if this still works, but you could at least try it.

Just using a US proxy isn't enough any more. It still insists on having a US credit card.

Geo Restrictions do frustrate me, but I get over it... There's such a huge amount of books, that ARE available, and if it's a book I absolutely can't live without, I'll buy the pbook or borrow from the library, but that hasn't happened, yet...

Fictionwise has completely lost my support since they claimed only a tiny part of their books would be restricted and I found out I couldn't buy any book anymore that I wanted... Which must be around april last year.

I simply do not buy from Diesel or Fictionwise anymore. Too complicated to find a workaround.

I use Smashwords, Amazon and others now.

I am moving from dead-tree books to ebooks mainly for reasons of convenience. I am therefore prepared to rebuy my favourite books in order to have them available on my Kindle. Guess what! some of them are unavailable because of geographic restrictions. What this means is that I don't buy anything, so that's a clear loss for the publishers.
