I guess what it means is they have a hard time getting it to work or a gentle way to say they gave up on it, not sure about which one. I am sure there are members of the IQ community that would be willing to help if PB was reaching put to them. Even a beta at this point would be nice so would could build on it.

I am only assuming since they never gave us a roadmap on what they were planning to do. So, we have to assume we are on our own from now on.

I have been experimenting with CyanogenMod so far, without success. However, since the Novel runs it, I don't see why the IQ wouldn't... unless there are differences that we are not aware of.

Remember, it's been 4 1/2 months since the last update.

Edit: Well...I was able to boot and see the top bar for the cyanogenmod stuff... However, it says the battery is empty. Will have to look into this! There is hope!

on the Novel other Wi-fi chip ..
i also tried to install CyanogenMod .. but IQ is frozen on the boot screen ..

That's what I thought. When I opened the IQ, it was not the same Wifi module.

Anyway... I am able to get past the boot screen and the loading animation. I get the top notification bar and then the device shuts down. From what I can get from the logcat, it would be something about having NO GRALLOC_USAGE_HW_FB since it is the last thing that shows before the device performs a low-level shutdown.

I could post the logcat here if anyone would help.

may be try rename all files *.s3c6410.so to *.smdk6410.so in /system/lib/hw from CyanogenMod..
or replace gralloc.s3c6410.so on gralloc.default.so ibidem..

Judging by the 302 debacle, it is not unreasonable to regard "on hold" as being synonymous with "it's not going to happen, but we'll keep stringing you along..."

I did try to copy the ones in the PB FW with CM but it did not work. I will try renaming them as suggested though. Are you knowledgeable with Android by any chance?

@TimothyH: TBH, I am unsure if the IQ will get Froyo from Pocketbook. There are 2 reasons:

1) I have stumbled upon a beta (v4 released March 13th) over the Russian forums and from what I could find, it was still 2.0.

2) Seeing that the Pandigital Novel is still at 2.0 at stock (it is a device similar to the IQ), I am not surprised that the IQ has not received froyo yet. Only through the effort of the community was the Novel able to get Froyo with Cyanogenmod.

Not to say it won't happen... just very unlikely. I hope I can get Cyanogenmod to work with my IQ anytime soon...!

You are not the only one... I have tried as well. Not much success so far but my second attempt seems promising. I have some knowledge of linux so I guess that could help out to figure out what is wrong.

I am following what is going on on the VM Cruz reader and PD Novel formus to help me out. Since both devices are close enough to the IQ, I am sure it might help somehow.

If it is the beta Musicman is refering to, it is still 2.0. However, they have added the JIT Dalvik, TTS, the ability to format the internal card into 3 partitions and use one of them for storing apps and fixed sleep mode.

No bad improvements, but without Froyo and the newest libs (and the ability to view Flash), I wonder if that will be enough. Still... they are still working on the IQ.

It is... but use at your own risk. It is a beta after all and can be unstable:
