Dorothy Dunnett. I rebought all of her books in ePub format when they released them late last summer. Now, if only some publisher would do the same for the works of Taylor Caldwell and Thomas Costain.

I love many of the authors mentioned (Cornwall and Iggulden especially), but my clear favourite is Steven Pressfield. His first book, Gates of Fire, a re-telling of the battle of Thermopylae (and a fine introduction to Spartan society at the time to boot), is particularly excellent.
