I've been spending entirely too much time playing Triple Town.

I have an iPad, but like the Nintendo-DS as well for games. I do have several games on the Kindle but just to see how it worked; not for serious gaming.

If you enjoy Sudoku on the Nintendo-DS, the one called "Platinum Sudoku" by Ubisoft is good. But there's another game included called Kakuro that's my very favorite. It's described as "Sudoku meets crossword puzzle." I found it to be very addictive!

Apart from word games, try out maze a thon. It sure is value for money. Brings back the old days when your newspaper had a kids suppliment which provided these 'find the way out' maze games.
The EA games are also well done. You can also try out JUMBLE which is sure to keep you occupied.

How about text adventure games? I enjoyed 'Choice of Broadsides (A Text-Based Adventure)' - it was like playing an RPG. I thought it was a bit too short though (but at $0.99, why complain), but then you can just start over and choose differently.

There is NOTHING wrong with games etc that will run on the Kindle, My point was that many People WANT the kindle to be a games machine .... But the DS, PSP, PC, Wii XBox etc are there for that, The Kindle IS an eReader ... for READING (Primelary), It's like asking for a BRICK that can record tv programs ???

Maybe it could be done ... but would the brick THEN be any good for building houses ?

Kevin, why do you have an HTC Desire? Surely you use a PC to browse the internet and send/receive emails? The HTC is a phone - why would you want apps on a phone?

Installing games on a Kindle doesn't stop it being an excellent eReader - it only adds to the device. If you are prepared to Jailbreak your Kindle then look for kif in the developers section. This lets you play all of the old Infocom interactive text adventure games on the Kindle - a wonderful addition to a great device

Cheating by listing it as mine really, the HTC desire is actually my wife's, (I suggested it to her as a great phone), but I do all the setting up etc, she's just about got the hang of it now though, I just love trying out NEW gadgets

To be honest, reading on smartphone is not my cup of tea, I much prefer eInk, and especially my Kindle 3, My eyesight is rapidly deteriorating, the Kindle is letting me read for a while longer than would have been possible

I just download Brain Bump a few days ago. Not bad for 99 cents. It asks questions about books. The annoying part is that so many of the questions are about details from the Lord of the Rings. It says it has 700 questions in total but I swear a very large percentage are about LOTR.

I like to play a few games on my Kindle. I don't have a smart phone, DS, or other handheld devices. I do have a Wii but obviously I can't carry that with me around the house and out of the house. My Kindle goes everywhere with me.

I have been trying to get hold of Scrabble and Monopoly (at least I think Monopoly is out for the Kindle), yet am unable to purchase them due to them being only available in the US. I have tried the address trick, but it just will not allow me to change my address to a US address. I would have thought that the K3 is identical in capabilities worldwide (barring the difference between 3G and Wifi connections), which means that Scrabble/Monopoly would work on all K3's.
Amazon need to pull their finger out and sort out some kind of parity between US and UK stores..

/moan off

Although, I suppose there could be licensing issues that I have missed,

I suspect that there are licensing issues involved here. The rights to these games could very well be owned by different companies in the US and UK.

Yes, I thought it may be. Shame, as playing a game of scrabble when I have 5 minutes while out travelling to work and back would be excellent...

Mahjongg 1.1 is worth a look. The first edition had bad navigation, but in the one game I've played, the new version works very well.

Dusk World I think is nice...it's a interactive graphic novel. Yeah it costs a bit ($6) but it works well.
