I just put in a new computer power supply myself saving the cost of the labor and being talked into a new computer.

Lunch for me is planned leftovers one or two times per week, then three or two times it is a can of tuna (darker meat, in oil, with salt and pepper). Once a week I'll buy lunch out, more for the social aspect.
I build all my computers from a boxes of parts. Not precisely cheaper, but the least expensive way to get the good parts. Thermostat is probably the biggest one, fortunately my wife and I have similar tastes. Even after many years in Florida, we haven't gone over to the dark side. Which would be running the heat in all of December and January, and running AC the other ten months, with all doors and windows sealed shut the entire year. So even in May, when 90F is common, we'll have the windows open most of the day. A light breeze makes it nice. And today, when it's still only 53F outside, the windows are open again. It's 67 inside, just fine. I remember hearing an expression from some Norwegian friends of my parents that there's no such thing as too hot or too cold, just wrong clothes. ![]() |

I pack my lunch to work every day. I'm amazed at what co-workers pay daily to eat out at fast-food joints, plus the gas to get there and back.
Gives me time for a nice walk at lunch time too (ice permitting). |

With budget constraints we seldom get to dine out or order in anymore.
![]() On the rare occasions when we go out for breakfast, we have our juice and coffee at home, which cuts the bill in about half. @ poohbear_nc. Chicken crampons. |

(It would take a cheapo thread to call you out. ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- Sometimes I will buy whiskey instead of scotch. Biiig price difference. The thing is being cheap is very dependent on how much you make. |

My wife washes plastic forks and spoons. I hate that.
I tell her I can buy her real silverware if she would like. |

Now that it's winter, I've dropped my thermostat to 65, but the bill is still too high. Temp outside is 20-30 F right now. Now at night I'm dropping it another degree or two since when I'm snuggled in bed I warm up pretty quickly. |

Saving money on heating is always a good idea, but for Tim and me, our comfort is more important. We prefer to turn off the heat at night so that the air we breathe at night is cold, but sleep under a blazing hot electric blanket. Heavenly.
And the heating is turned off during the coldest part of the night, so our bill is lower. |

I'd love to turn the heat off at night, but it's really cold here. Tonight it's supposed to be 8 degrees Farenheit! I do use a heating pad when it gets too cold though

I don't eat at work. I don't get anything out of the vending machines or the coffee shop and I come home for lunch.
I'm not necessarily cheap so much as broke. ![]() |

![]() I was talked into getting an electric blanket ( I had visions of Nohmi Fricasse a la Turnover) and now love it. I put it on high for an hour before going to sleep, switch off, go bye-byes and it's lovely. Cheers |

![]() Some of the top restaurants here got some very bad press here on the Gold Coast, and even showed some footage of the state of their kitchens. Two have since closed, and this was where the *beautiful people* dined. I am always afraid that something like this would happen. Spoiler:
