Yes, I keep short stories and podcasts on it; files range from 15 minutes to an hour. Sometimes, I just don't feel like reading print anymore, and would rather just listen, but not so much that I want to haul out my mp3 player for my current audiobook. Without an actual bookmarking feature, I wouldn't use it for full-length books (as well as the fact that audio uses up the battery faster). I wouldn't buy a 650 because of the audio function, but I do use it.

Can't decide - 650 or 350? HELP!!!
I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new reader - waiting til Saturday to see if Sony offers anything special. I just sold my 300 on ebay, so I have to back up the books and clear it out.
I just can't decide which reader I would like. Questions: 1. Does anyone really use the mp3 player on the 650? 2. Does anyone fee the 350 really limits the number of books? Anyone gotten a 350 and which they had gotten a 650, or vice versa? |

I dont use the MP3 at all. I use my reader on the tube and listen to my ipod. IMO the reader is to big to be used as a MP3 on the move. the 350 doesnt have the card extension like the 650 but the internal memory allows for a large number of books and you can always manage these via SL or Calibre. My only issue when I was trying to decide was the portability of the 350 which fits into virtually all of my pockets, but with a small screen that means constant page turning or the 650 which fits in my coat pocket and my suit jacket, and the larger screen that looked more like a proper page to me. The 650 did it for me and I dont regret it at all. Which ever one you choose im sure you will love it. Good luck ![]() Last edited by Kiwimick; 01-20-2011 at 05:39 PM. |

The MP3 player and card slot weren't an issue. I have had over 800 books on the 350 and it could have held many more. The screen of the 350 is so much better than the 505 or 600 that I can read in a smaller font, which means I have about the same amount of words on the 350 as I had on the 505/600 (because I had to crank up the font size on the 505/600). Another bonus is how portable the 350 is. I can carry it everywhere. Often I'd leave my 505 or 600 at home because those extra inches tipped the balance of what I was willing to haul around with me all day. The 650 is a great reader and if you only read at home, I'd recommend it. But for me, portability was key. |
