HOWEVER, the reason i will get the Squaretrade warranty is because fo the accidental damage coverage. If you drop your NC, spill coffee on it, or someone steps on it, Squaretrade will replace/fix/reimburse you for how much you paid.

That's the only reason I think a $30 is worth it. after 6 months to a year, you could probably buy a better e-reader or the newer version nook color for the same price or cheaper than you boguht it for now.

I wouldn't be so sure about a new Nook. The original is still as it was when released and no signs of impending announcement, of course there's no real need to change other than maybe an eInk screen upgrading.

The only thing that I could really see as an enticing upgrade in 2-3y would be resonably priced tablets with Pixel Qi displays PLUS MUCH improve SoCs.

I don't run out and buy a new gadget simply because there is a new one. The new one has to be DEMONSTRABLY superior to my current ones to hold ANY interest to me. In the vast majority of the cases this is just not so, mainly being cases of company A playing catchup to company B, or company b "refreshing"(i.e. essentially using smoke and mirrors in an effort to make the consumer believe that their refreshed version is actually better than the current one when at best the changes are essentially trivial) product A to suck more $$$ out of the consumer...

I ended up getting the squaretrade warranty after doing some online reseach, rather than the B & N.

I would be interested in the 50% off SquareTrade coupon as well. I need a warranty since I plan on letting my kids use the NC.

The only 50% off one that I have is one that they mailed to me for being a new customer after I got the 3y + accidental coverage for my gTablet. I'm pretty sure that it's a one shot use, so... I'll be needing it for when I get around to ordering the warranty for the NC...
