It was moved because the Kindle app and the other stuff you/we mentioned doesn't apply to the stock device.

The name is pretty weird -- I think it was named that way because that is how the modified Kindle forum was named and they chose it to be consistent with that rather than choosing a name that fits better here. I think it has a poor name, too. At first it didn't even have the word "rooting" in the subheading! Last edited by zartemis; 01-13-2011 at 07:34 PM. |

So like the opening line of a bad joke.
"So this Catholic Guy is dating this Mormon girl. .." Finding electronic books of Catholic works has been near impossible for me, I recently found the Latin missal in PDF format at the right price $0. Do you happen to have a link where you bought the book? Thanks in advance, Last edited by =X=; 01-14-2011 at 11:19 AM. |

I've been enjoying this thread even though I'm not rooted. I was wondering how much people use their rooted NC's for reading versus other tasks. I know all those apps would be distracting for me! I suppose it's like any new gadget that you can't stop playing with in the beginning. I know my ereader sat idle for a short while when I was setting up my iPhone.

You guys are too funny!
A rooted NC is just like getting a toy to play with all over again. At first I was distracted because I was marveling over all of the extra stuff the device could do, but eventually, all of that got old, and I just wanted to do what I bought the NC for--to read. I wanted extra reading functionality within it, and rooting it gave that to me. Downloading library books, putting sideloaded books directly on the homescreen, and other features made it a nearly perfect device for reading. Classic Nook is used during the day, the Nookcolor is used at night. |

I've spent way too much time playing with my nook......compared to reading with it......I'm a total ereader newbie..........between rooting, setting it up, trying to figure out all the different apps, library book set up and jumping on the net for no particular reason (mostly this forum).......even later at night which has typically been my reading time, I might even end up surfing.......I've still managed to finish 3 books since xmas so far though......and just pulled down Bad Blood from the library....which will certainly go quick......
Absolutely love my NookColor....... |
