Hi Kerinta and welcome to MobireRead. You are of course right for the prices in Greece. There are though many choices below 300 euros (without the reflow, indeed)

Hello everyone!
Sorry i havent replied sooner but i went on with the move.
I managed to squeeze a one day visit to Athens in search of my ereader. Sadly there werent many devises available, with the sales and everything.
I saw a sony prs-600, a bebook mini and a nook wifi.
My first impression was that i expected them to be larger. Of course i know the how many 6 inches are, still they felt small and a little fragile. Maybe its just my idea.
So i didnt get me ereader yet, but i did realize that a bigger screen would be better choise for me.
Thankfully bying the kindle from the US is now a lot easier (althow the dx is quite expensive still at 400 euros with the tax) but i will not be able to read my greek purchased and free ebooks on it (or thats what ive come to realise but maybe im mistaken there too).
I'm going to Spain for two weeks so im keeping my hopes up and maybe i'll get my ereader there.
If not, when i return i'm going to have to choose between the kindle dx and the pocketbook por 902 because of the larger screens.
Any words of wisdom and suggestions?
Thank you all

What format are your Greek books and free e-books in? I'm thinking of getting the Kindle DX, too, to read PDFs.

The formats are pdf (with drm mostly), html and txt.
Can you backup your purchased ebooks from the kindle to your pc or are they backed up by amazon?

I think that you can back them up, from what I've read, but hopefully someone with a Kindle can tell you how that can be done. Your PDF books you will be able to read on a Kindle DX, unless they are password protected (I think). You will not be able to "reflow" the letters, however. Html and text files can't be read natively on the Kindle, but you can use this free program:

http://calibre-ebook.com/

to convert the files into .mobi, which the Kindle will be able to read. I hope this helps. I would like a large screen reader, and I've been looking at the Kindle and the Pocketbook. I think that I will get the Kindle because of the better screen. I would be using it for PDFs that don't show up well on my 6 inch screen (scanned PDFs, and ones that are graph and picture heavy).

If you only read novels, however, you might not find a 6 inch reader as small as it looks. When I first got my PRS-505, I remember thinking that it was much smaller than I expected it would be (I ordered off the internet before ever seeing an e-book reader in person). When reading novels, I find that it's great; I even ended up buying an even smaller reader (I haven't received it yet), so that I could have something even more portable. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to convince you to buy a smaller device, I'm just trying to share my experience with you, in the hopes that it might help you with your choice.

It doesnt sound like that at all, and through sharing personal experience is how we go places. Thank you for sharing!
To tell you the truth i had my eye on a sony prs-650 but the store said theyre out of stock and will maybe have some again in late March.
The only place they have any left is the sony style us and they dont ship to Greece. I would like to see it, hold it to see for my self because obviously the 6 inch screen is much more portable.
I saw the sony prs-600 and i wasnt impressed at all (sorry to all the proud owners of the 600).
I'll have a look when i get to Spain, but i am a little disapointed.

Yes, the 650 has a much better screen than the 600. Some stores ship overseas. I bought my PRS-350 from this store:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

It was on sale for $129. (That's about $100 euro, I think). The 650 is unfortunately out of stock for now, because it is sold out in most stores. Hopefully when you get to Spain you will be able to find something that suits you, or at least get to play with some devices so that you can get a feel for what they are like. If I do end up picking up the Kindle DX, I'll be sure to tell you my impressions so that you can get a better idea about the product, in case you decide to buy it. I have a link to a site that has a lot of excellent video reviews of devices, I hope that this will help you out:

Hello again!
So i almost got my hands on a sony prs-650 in Tenerife, and i even got thiiiiis close to actualy buying one online through the spanish website of Sony.
Although i was on every store's waiting list (Tenerife has 3 sony stores)the readers they were expecting never came. On the internet they apeared available, let you put them on your shoping basket and then they wouldnt let you pay for it!!!!!!
Two weeks on nerve braking hide and seek!
I'm done! No more sony hunting!
I've desided on a kindle 3! It even costs 100 euros less than the sony (but reading greek ebooks on it would probably be easier than the kindle).
Now im going to search the forums for info about the kindle and hopefully by the end of the month or so i will have my very own!!!!
Again, thank you everyone for your valuable insight!!!

Unbelievable...
I recently bought the BeBook One, and paid € 130,- (I must admit, it is the 'refurbished' one, but it turned out to be the latest model.) New the lowest price in Belgium is € 199,-

By the way... welcome!
