Also, a lot of up and coming authors are members here and they offer their books, either free or $.99. I've discovered authors here that I probably wouldn't have purchased at a regular book store. I've really enjoyed some of their books, and am looking forward to upcoming books from them.

You want to see this thread. It lists publishers and authors who participate in MR forums, and they constitute a healthy list. (I'm in there, too.
