No, not cheap by a long shot - but still less than I though it would be, seeing as the BW, no-touchscreen Kindle DX costs almost $400. I thought this would come out to $600-700

yes Im sure. Thats bad reporting by them . Its Capacitive plus Magnetic Resonance Digitizer. You do NOT HAVE to use the stylus for navigation( even if it were resistive this would not be true ) I was using finger input mostly and a combination of finger and buttons for some things( it was just easier) .

Its one finger only not multi touch so swipes dont work to turn a page you tap. light taps work which prove the capacitive touch. When you pull the pen to write/use the capacitive is turned off so you dont accidentally select something while writing.

When writing you could select from a few different thicknesses and even a "brush" which made a tapered stroke that looked very much like ink brush strokes.

I am interested in carrying something like it. Talking with them I got the impression Id have to be the distributor and Im not funded enough for that kind of quantity. Besides which I have not only the PocketBook 903 to come in Aprilish but also the Onyx Boox M90 in a few months. I personally like the Boox device very much. I threatened to take their display model with me from the booth at CES.

Price is a restriction really in this size range. Anything over $400 I think is a non starter. The DX is sitting at $379 and you have to sit close to that with better specs (aside from "pearl" and "whispernet") in order to sell.

Color MIGHT allow a higher price for a certain customer group. I think there are many professional/academic/scientific readers who need color for charts etc would pay a little more if they didnt want an LCD for variosu reasons

I didnt notice it being slow to change pages. Im a little perplexed by some of the comments at Engadget. It seemed just as fast as "normal" eink models

I am so ready for color e-ink. Efficient, static display capable of magazines, brochures, tech documents... awesome. I was thinking of this very reader today during a meeting with a LED display company when they passed me a paper color catalog of their line. I told him that imagine a day where you could just send me this catalog to a color e-ink reader instead... I know many have their reservations but IMHO this Triton technology is droolworthy.

So where our Onyx Boox M90 review then? :-)
I almost bought the 6" one, instead went for PRS-900.
Probably a bad move ...

BTW, I apologise for sidetracking the Hanvon thread!

A comparison between that new Hanvon, the Kindle DX and the Pocketbook 903 would be great!

It sure would! We are actually going to do a video soon on the Kindle DX vs the Pocketbook 902 PRO because their both in the same class as e-reader, both are large 9.7 inches and Pocketbook is actually designed quite well. Will be a good battle!
