Interesting read in the forum about the battery here
http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/.../701888/page/4

Apparently there have been several others with this battery concern (I guess me too, now) Apparently SquareTrade's warranty would cover the battery.....but calling them on it would be wise....

In one of the last posts there is a link to pictures of the teardown of the NC in a sequential order, to get to the battery, certainly looks like it's replaceable, but a bit of work to get the job done (I could do it, hopefully I don't have to anytime soon)

Disclaimer: Performing the steps detailed in the teardown, may void the warranty
Interesting to see the NookColor taken apart....

If you would like coverage on your new item, you need to purchase a new warranty for it. For Repairs: The Care Plan is good for multiple repairs, up to the maximum value of your item. Check with your credit card company. Most offer a free one year extended warranty and 90 days of accidental damage/theft with no deductible.
Meh, I've never had a piece of electronics break on me, so if it does break, it will most likely be once. Also, if the battery dies, just "break" the nook and get it replaced with the latest gen. I'm sure in Jan of 2014 there will be a newer model

Worth the piece of mind for the price of a dinner.

need to find my receipt - make sure I'm w/in 30 days ...
I noticed that it said w/in 90d yesterday... I had thought that it was 30d, but maybe it's extended for ereaders...

[EDIT]
The battery had better last at the very least 5y and in fairly good shape simply because the cynics @ B&N decided against user-replaceable battery... All of my other rechargeable batteries electronics have last 5+y...

OTOH the battery is NOT soldered in place and as long as the same or similar replacement could be found the hardest part would be disassembling it enough to replace the battery and getting it back together again cleanly... my gTab is the same way, the battery is not soldered, but it's easier to take apart(4 or 5 screws, releasing a couple of tabs...)
[/EDIT]

[EDIT2]
The one time payout is fine by me, as I'm just getting this for insurance. While I haven't broken many devices(took 10y for me to crack my IIIx's screen...) these are just expensive enough and large enough that I have a bad feeling of accidental drops and breaking the display... worth $40-65 to me to be able to replace it...

(Kind of funny how more recent Asus warranties cover nb automatically with 1y of accidental damage out of the 2y total... well they do if you don't buy from some crappy place like Worst Buy who don't get the mfg warranty... you do from newegg, tigerdriect, etc. though...)
[/EDIT2]
