I'd like to verify if this happens for all books, or just some? If just some, and they are books that covers were found for before, has the author or title been changed? If he wants to verify that the covers are there or not, he can post an author/title combo and someone will test for him.

It happens for most of them and the titles or authors are not changed, since I downloaded the metadata with Calibre as I did with the prc books before.

As Kovid said, post author/title. Calibre doesn't even know if it's a PRC or PDF or EPUB when fetching covers or metadata.

None of the cover repositories have covers for the french edition.

I'm Italian, not French.
I know the sites have the English versions: when I downloaded the covers for my prc books, they were all in english. But I did it starting from the italian title and it found the Italian books covers too.

Now I can't rename every title in my library, it would be a huge work and wouldn't work for my Italian books.

Perhaps you imported the covers from the source books previously? If a book has a cover that Calibre can identify as a cover, and you add that book with the option to get internal metadata from the file, Calibre will find the cover.

The only things I might want from downloaded information is a cover and the back-jacket blurb. I absolutely don't want tags, ratings and series, as I have already set them the way I want.

Regarding covers, my experience has been that I get better information by going to fantasticfiction. I get to see what I will get, and in many cases I can choose between editions. If fantasticfiction fails me, I go to various online bookstores to get images. Similar for blurbs -- I want what the book is about, not the publishers weekly pseudo review. I get these from fantasticfiction, wikipedia, and sometimes other sites.

I can get away with this because I add books rather slowly, perhaps 5 to 10 per month. My to-read queue already exceeds 200 books. Thanks to webscriptions and other sources, my queue is growing faster than I am reading.
