Mmm brownies...
I decided to try the new software update and turn on the blink page turn feature. It took a few tries to get used to the "left/right blink" thing, but now it is as automatic as a regular page turn. Just make sure you get the lighting right. Now my screen and buttons stay clean no matter how sticky and fudgey my brownies are. Over the New Year holidays I plan to test to see if the page turns are faster as Sony claims. |

My stomach is growling after reading this thread! I'm going to have to try some of that "cranberry bliss".
SolRaven, I think you are right that the buttons are more likely to get gunked up with stray brownie when reading. I always worry about gunking up the buttons on my PRS-505 (I like to read while eating, when I'm home alone). |

vxf It is a truly hands-free page turn software update. It is the only beta software that I know of that requires training before you can install it.

Sometimes a dog hair lands on the screen. The urge to try and brush it off with my fingers while reading is sometimes irresistible.... then I have to try and work out how many pages I've just flipped ... and was that forward or back.

Lick your finger and touch the hair, do not wipe. Lifts it off nicely.

Nice one Pinecone. Next time I will try to resist the urge to swipe and try the lick and lift technique instead.

If anyone is REALLY concerned about particles scratching their screen, and would prefer not to use a cloth, try a Rocket Blower. Any photography equipment shop would have them. I have a couple around for my DSLRs.
Use that first then follow up with the cloth. Or, do what do if a cloth isn't handy: A couple good strong blows (without spitting ![]() VXF: I think your leg is being pulled.... |
