Plus which I've discovered that the Kobo ignores line-height styles in epubs. For me the lines are too high, even with the minimum line spacing setting in the Glo's font options. Setting the line-height in the epub css (e.g., to 0.8em) makes no difference...naughty Kobo! |

Editing the line-height works fine, and the Kobo recognises it.
The problem is that if you use calibre to change the line-height it doesn't always change the lineheigt of the right fontclass. So a lot of badly formated books you have to edit manually in Sigil. Check which fontclass is used for the actual book text, and add or change the line-heigt for exactly this fontclass in the css. |

Regarding the line-height I think the following is happening: my epubs have a line-height set only in the body class. On my Sony PRS-650 this line-height would be cascaded down properly to individual paragraphs, but on the Glo it is not, but is overriden by the line spacing option in the Glo's font options. For some reason the line spacing minimum value seems to be greater than 1.0em, more like 1.5em, so that is a problem - the minimum values needs to go lower.
But you are right, you can get the line-height you want by explicitly setting it in the paragraph class/style, which then overrides the line spacing in the Glo's font options, which is what I shall do in future. But still, the Glo's line spacing needs to allow smaller values. In fact, I think there should be an option to turn off the Glo's styling, ideally individually, so it will only use the styles in the epub itself. Perhaps the only one I would use then would be font size, but I normally prefer to set that in the epub itself. Last edited by ShellShock; 11-11-2012 at 03:36 AM. |

Fixed font sizes in the stylesheet like font-size: 0.77419em; seem to cause a problem and are seldom actually useful as far as I can tell. Deleting them using tweak epub often gets rid of the extra line spacing and results in more text on the page. Helen |

But if you are reading a PDF which you cannot convert to EPUB because the PDF has a complex page layout (diagrams etc.) you are at present stuck with the waste space at the bottom PLUS waste space at both sides since the ratio on a PDF page is fixed.
I described this on another post, referring to this discussion there: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=196312 I can't believe that this is so hard to make optional. Rojofo. |
