Any light that derives it's power from the reader is a poor design. I'm not sure what light to get that's not a light cover would be good. But to be honest, we have umpteen different threads about lights that should really be combined into one as most non-light covers would work for most readers.

Hi Jon!!!

Welcome to the Kindle forums! This is a place where we discuss Kindles, things about Kindles, and things for Kindles. There may indeed be some overlap between devices, but since not everyone has the time or inclination to go into different threads to see what is available, we like to keep the Kindlers posted on what is available to them.

I'm certain you could do the same in a forum tailored to your own device and leave us to our backward kindling ways.

Thumbs up Octovo Solis is Perfect

The Octovo Solis Kindle light for the latest generation Kindle 3 is in my opinion the perfect light. It's lightweight, sleek looking and powered by a single AA battery. This is important to me. It provides even lighting for the entire page.

Product link.

Some of my ebook light collection

I seem to have a million book lights scattered around. I'm including pictures of the the ones I use most often. The high angle shots are just to identify each light and an overhead light is on. The straight on pics are with all lights in the room turned off. For the most part, the lights look better in person than in the pics but they are a good representative of the differences. I used the lighted cover with my K3 but still use book lights for my K1 and K2.

Green Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 - I gave up on this one a long time ago because the neck got very loose and I constantly have to adjust it as it slowly flops over.

Silver Mighty Bright Telescoping Triple LED Deluxe Book Light Kit - I really like this light, the telescoping neck is very adjustable (not as much as the flex necked versions) and stays in place well. It is pretty bulky though.

eBook Lite - I don't have a link for this one. It's very sourcey at both its low and high settings. I also find it a little difficult to attach. I'm afraid I'll squeeze to hard when attaching it.

The Kandle - This my favorite of the group. Easy to attach, great coverage and much lighter than the eBook Lite.

EDIT: Found the link for the eBook Lite.

A shiny? If you've tired it and it doesn't work for you there are still another 999,999 other lights to try.

Here's a new one I just ran across from Lightwedge. Seems similar to but not as pretty as the Solis.

I also have the Kindle lighted case but I don't like the inconsistent lighting across the page. The Mighty Bright is perfect for me. It is nice and bright and it covers the entire Kindle page very well. I worried that it might be too bulky but it isn't a problem. I got the AC adapter with it to preserve batteries.

your old one sounds a LOT like the kandle which is why I didn't like it. welcome to the forums!

I've got the Mighty Bright Extra Flex (3 batteries) black, which I love for its sleek design. On the left.
Also the fold up Mighty Bright. Looks a bit cheaper, but good all the same, for travel. Adjustable and retractable ' head'.
Both can stand alone on a night table.

Hi,
I'm new to the Kindle and the forum.
I really wanted a light that would go together with a cover but didn't want the Kindle3 cover with the built in light because I heard that the light drew power from the Kindle and also that it did not disperse enough to reach the bottom of the page.
I did some research and finally decided on the M-edge Eluminator2 and M-edge Capital cover. I got them yesterday and they go perfectly together. The light slots into the cover and swivels up when you want to use it. It takes one AAA battery and covers the whole page - I am really pleased.
