Android Tablets aren't quite right yet. But, once Android stabilizes, Google opens the app store to tablets, and competition drives prices down somewhat, Apple will find its dominance of the tablet market declining.

I'm still interested in the iPad 2 though.

My roommate, who has a Mac, wants an iPad. He wants one so bad he can taste it. He's not sure what he'll do with it, exactly, but he wants one. I'm more of a PC girl, but that's mostly a matter of preference and what I'm used to. My reason for not wanting an iPad (or any other app-based tablet) is because I seem to prefer either "everything" devices (my laptops) or "one thing" devices (my iPod and my Kindle). The app-based tablets are somewhere in the middle. I didn't buy an iPod until this year, and I got my Kindle this month. I'm a geek but I'm not an early adopter when it comes to gadgets. I guess this was my year to "specialize" my toys.

The real top ten reasons not to buy an iPad:

1. No USB port(s)
2. No SDHC card reader built-in
3. Relies on iTunes
4. No file browser, no copy/paste
5. No Flash
6. Proprietary port instead of mini-USB
7. Can only install apps from one place
8. Way overpriced, Apple TAX in the extreme
9. Glossy screen instead of matte finish
10. Device has to be “authorized” to function

I always get such a chuckle out of non-owners of Ipads telling me why I shouldn't buy one.

I like my iPad. The only discomfort I felt about buying it was that before they allowed me to purchase one at our local Apple Store, I had to sign a binding agreement swearing eternal allegiance to Steve Jobs.

Well, that and the fact I had to agree not to disclose any details of the secret ownership initiation rites. But I will tell you that you wouldn't believe the things that go on past midnight at Apple Stores, nor would you believe just how messy chicken blood can be to work with.

While the Apple tax definitely seems to apply here, it doesn't seem that there is any tablet device on the market that isn't underdelivering.

It could be that I know nothing about engineering, but 64 or 32 Gigs of storage just doesn't seem adequate.

If the Ipod Touch can hold the same amount, those jokes about it being the Ipad Nano seem sort of true.

With all that said, I'd be happy to own either the Apple or Samsung tablet...they look like a lot of fun. I just don't want one badly enough to buy one.

The top two reasons presuppose that you really want one and intend to buy one later.

No Flash seems like a positive thing.

The whole Apple cult creeps me out too.
