I wish that someone would make the metadata TOC easier to reach in all the x50 series readers. Right now you have to press three times just to get to the TOC. In comparison, on Stanza on the ipod Touch, you have to press just once. This IMO is a definite fault of the Sony reader interface.

Currently with the Boroda firmware, you have the option to program the buttons with various functions. Couldn't one of them be direct access to the TOC?

As mentioned already, it would also be nice to be able to set as the screensaver the cover of the last read book.

Otherwise, I'm not really picky and love the PRS-350 functions and interface, especially with the Boroda firmware.

First the very important things:

File download through browser

Browser landscape mode

Additional fonts and an extra size between small and medium

Cookie support so I dont have to type in my super secure password all the time!

Homepage that shows last three boks read

Ability to use sidebar to scroll through webpages

Now the less important things (which would still be very nice!):

A calendar application

Crossword puzzles and other games

HTML support

A true back option. the kindle back button keeps taking you back through pages of a book through web pages etc. Perhaps double tapping on the top right corner of the screen?

Folders, although I am torn because I really like the ability to have documents in more than one collection.

Thanks for all the hard work, you are restoring my faith in humanity!!!

Patomonk, this is a wishlist for the 950 not eReaders in general... almost useless for owners of 500,505, 700, 300, 600, 350 and 650 models.

Surely the most important things on an eReader relate to reading and books such as the excellent ability in the latest version allowing reading from an unmounted memory card... extending that across all models is very important, things involving the web, internet access and browsing are only of interest to 950 and maybe 900 users (especially those in the US) and reading the forum, not even to all of them.

@elcreative: it should work with a few modification on all x50 (at least)

I which to add to my previous list; a FULL screen picture viewer. not to have to see my perfectly croped pictures resized for a few pixels (bottom bar)

and a little bit (more?) docs coming with the custom firmware...

thanks.

So how does browsing the net work on a device without wi-fi or 3G... 4 out of patomonk's 6 "very important things" are only relevant for 950 (and maybe 900) users and at that, primarily in the US rather than most of the rest of the world as the 3G is for US networks...

I have to say, "How?" The 950 has hardware for 3G and Wi-Fi, the other x50's don't hence, all the changes to firmware in the world, won't give Wi-Fi/3G access to devices without the needed hardware... this was the point I made that 4 of p's 6 most important were only relevant to the 950 not the other x50s...

What's the purpose of this discussion?
This topic is a wishlist, don't see a point in valuating the wishes of the others.

Hi, I'm sure that all x50 share the same kernel (linux), a similar rootfs and most of the sony software.
SO, any custom Scripts, applications, modules, should work on ANY x50.....
SURE it won't add wifi, bluetooth, gps, 3g, lasers, light n sound to my 350 but that's not the point, is it ?

Additio to my wish list: an option to get ride of the bottom bar in book reading too.

Thanks to all peoples WORKING on that.

Actually that was the whole point I made that 4 of Patomonk's 6 most important items were Wi-FI/3G related and were thus of absolutely no interest to 350 and 650 users... and sarcasm is hardly needed if you actually read what I wrote in the first place

This thread is tagged PRS950. So are people unhappy with the wishes that are ONLY for 950? or the wishes that are NOT specific to 950? Either way, I agree, why criticize someone else's wishlist?

Good questions, I'm not really sure.

another good one would be; of what kind of custom firmware are we talking ?
I suppose it's the russification from Boroda since it's the only one currently running on the x50.
But after looking around, my 350 falsh, and boroda Firmware, and PRS+ (just a little bit);
I think, it may be "possible/easy" to use boroda Firmware to boot PRS+ on the x50s

Happy new year to you all,

Zogzog.

Two things I've thought of in the past few days:

continuous page flow under zoom mode in PDFs: so that the machine displays the next "part" of the page instead of jumping to the next page. I miss this function on Irex dr800sg.

the ability to copy files between main memory and external cards: a function I used to love on prs500. Handy when you use SD cards to transfer files but don't want the book you are reading to disappear when the card is out of the slot.

It may have escaped your notice but Kartu works on this in his own time and his work is getting to apply across the range of Sonys... first was 505 then added 300 & 600, is working on x50s now as well as updating 505... my point was simply that having facilities that could only work on one range, would be less useful to most people than things that will work across all systems... let him get those done and then specialist things.

As far as this being a 950 thread, I didn't notice... either it wasn't tagged thus at the start or I just didn't see it so I apologise for misinterpreting the thread slightly... and I wasn't criticising anybody's wishlist, just the priorities of given to some of the wishes... sorry if that upsets anybody as well but I thought we still lived in a free society where reasoned comment was perfectly acceptable...

Here's another thing that I wish could happen : transferring books wirelessly to the machine from the computer. I usually use the SD card, but taking the card in and out of the slot and browsing through the folders on pc, sometimes two or three times a day,is a bit tiresome.
