Personally I like using my 650 without a cover. I have the Sony slip case for when the reader's not in use, which I find perfectly adequate for the job. As an adult, I take full responsibility for looking after my possessions and refuse to lose any sleep over "what if's" and "might be's" - I don't do insurance either. I did try reading with a Sony cover once, but found it detracted too much from the experience of reading with my new slim, lightweight device. I would rather just take reasonable care of my reader and enjoy using it to the full.

Dropping it is why I bought the extended warranty with damage protection.

Does the actual warranty say that removing the serial number sticker voids the warranty?

The version I have talks about opening it and modifying the hardware as voiding the warranty, but nothing about removing the sticker.

No but various threads on here and elsewhere have information concerning the purpose of serial number stickers and attitudes to their absence... regardless, why take the chance, why bother... it's on the reader for a reason so leave it... if it really bothers anyone then they can remove it and hope for the best if there is a problem... It's rather like a car and its VIN... if it's there then the vehicle is easily identified and it's legal history trackable, if it isn't...
