I'm new here but would like to help...

I saw that someone had posted in another thread that they were offering a bounty for OS X software for the Sony Reader.

I'd be willing to pledge/kick $50 into the kitty/bounty if that helps sweeten the deal. I figure I'd get more than that amount of use/benefit if someone came up with a nice OS X solution.

BTW, been lurking for a couple of days and you folks do seem to be an awfully cool group of Book/eBook/Reading enthusiasts. Great to find. Thanks for all the great info and the resouces. Looking forward to getting into my new Reader in a big way.

Welcome to MobileRead, DaveNB!

You'll make the sensitive among us blush with your kind words, but we're always glad to have new folks. There's been a lot of effort put into making the sight helpful and friendly, and every member has done a share there. It really is a great community, and I for one am very pleased and proud (and just a little bit humbled ) to be counted among the members.

Anyway, as I said, welcome!

If you need any help, just feel free to ask. I'm sure someone will jump in and try to help. That's what makes this place so good. All the people willing to help each other. I do what I can to help even if it's not int he programming department. I'll file bug reports, help people get their settings right, do some book conversions to be posted, etc. It's a nice place. Glad you could join us.

There should be an OSX installer available next week and v0.4.0 should be out in about a months time.
Feel free to donate to support further development

There's an OS installer available on the website now. Since this is my first attempt at writing OS X specific software it may be buggy.

Thanks for the OS X installer for libprs500

It looks like it has great potential, some little bugs in the GUI rendering and it crashed at the end of an upload (the files seemed to transfer OK though) to the Sony Reader. I submitted some bug reports on the sourceforge web site...and $50 sent your way as promised/pledged via Paypal.

Will there be controls to convert txt/html/pdf into lrf, or to edit the metadata in an existing lrf in the next version?

Thanks for all your hard work. Really looking forward to version 0.4 and onwards. Please get yourself some beers or books (or better yet, both!!) on me.

Regards,

Dave

Great to hear that it works. There are indeed a few outstanding bugs that I'm working on squashing. Yes indeed there will be controls for converting txt/html to LRF in v0.4.0. I'm not sure if PDF will make it into v0.4.0, but it will in the future. You can edit LRF metadata in the GUI right now. When you edit the metadata, via the edit metadata button or by double clicking on the field, the metadata is updated in the stored LRF file.

Thanks for the $$, they are much appreciated.

Wow, I am really looking forward to the ability to convert txt/HTML in v0.4.0 but until then, this is a great little program. Thanks again!
