How do you actually load Libr500 into the Ubuntu environment? Can someone tell me the actual steps. Being a loing time Mac head, I need to know where I can "click" to launch the install. Anything other than that, and I need a step-by-step.

Just execute the following commands in a terminal to install
Code:
sudo aptitude install python-setuptools python-imaging libusb-0.1-4 python-qt4 python-qt4-gl python-qt4-sql bash-completion
sudo easy_install -U libprs500
You can launch libprs500 via the command libprs500.

Would it make sense to add LRF to FBReader? If there was a specification for LRF, I think the FBReader authors would probably put adding this format on their to-do list. One difference is that FBReader defines fonts and layouts per device rather than per document, so I'm not sure it will show you exactly what you will get on the Sony Reader. The same is presumably true of using a web browser to pre-view the .html version. Note that FBReader can read html as well (provided it is a single file, or has a .opf metafile describing the file sequence), and it may therefore already be better than a web browser for previewing e-books in .html.

There isn't a specification for LRF but there's a tool to convert lrf to lrs for which there is a specification. Unfortunately, LRF/S is a device dependent format, rather like PDF, so I doubt FBReader would be suitable for rendering LRFs.
