The TBR situation is totally out of control. Before I got any ereaders this year, I already had a 6' bookcase filled with TBR paperbacks (I'm not even counting the hardcovers scattered in other bookcases). I've got hundreds of ebooks now on my ereaders, too, because it's like carrying around a Whitman's Sampler of books all the time.

I should just admit that I'm a book hoarder, forget the polite fiction of "TBR books" and be done with it.

Bigger. Definitely bigger. However, I've never considered myself a "TBR"-er per se because I love books and every purchase was made with the assumption that it will get read "someday" without putting much scheduling into it beyond that. I've at least a couple hundred pbooks that haven't been cracked open yet. As for ebooks... I've had my Kindle for exactly 10 days and there's already 230 items on it. If you subtract the items that I'd already read on my computer before buying the Kindle and the few I've read in the past week, that TBR list is just under 200.

Yeah, okay, I'm just a hoarder, and I love that I can now hide my hoarding on my Kindle. I love my bookshelves, as well as the conversations they start. BUT now that I have the Kindle I feel less of a compulsion to add to the pbook collection. Now I just need to temper my desire to add every freebie/bargain I come across to the Kindle.

I just spent over $100 at Fictionwise with 50% off and the Buywise Club discount so you tell me how big my TBR pile is.

In denial, I will shrink my TBR pile.

I feel less of a compulsion to add to my pbook collection now, too. Unless it involves books that I can't find as ebooks. I never feel guilty about adding freebie books, though.

Bigger since getting a reader. Because ebooks don't take up any physical space I tend to buy ebooks to read in the future more than I did with paperbacks. I think nothing of buying say 20 or more ebooks in the space of a few months when I might only read half in that time. With paperback books I'd only buy 1 or 2 more on top of the one I was reading at the time due to space. Also due to their weight I wouldnt buy more than 3 at a time in a shop because I wouldn't want to carry them around with me/home. Online I can by 2 times that in one go and think nothing of it. Also if I was going to order online, the fact that I had to wait for them to be delivered could put me off sometimes.

So I have a much larger to read list than before, but I also tend to get round to reading more now. I think because my list is longer and more varied I can always find a book I feel like reading at the time and then get on with it and read it. However, with paper backs I only had 2 or 3 in the to read list and I might not fancy reading them when I got round to them.

I don't have any shopping bags to hide from my spouse with e-books (before I was married, I used to hide them from my mom).

My TBR has gotten huge this year, but since my reading has hugely increased, I have very little carry-over from last year.

I have no idea my TBR pile. But, I do plan on keeping track of what I have read starting in 2011. I have done some tracking in 2010 on Goodreads. But I'll keep even better tracking starting January 2011.

Bigger, much bigger. And yes, I'm also an ebook hoarder.

Like Marcy with pbooks I never had more than 4 or 5 unread lying around, when I started on my last I started looking for the next book or books.

My weak point seems to be classics I always intended to read. With pbooks I only bought them when I knew I would read them. Now when I come across one I haven't already I download it, regardless of being in the mood for it or not.

Sounds like my plan.. Only seriously started keeping records on LibraryThing in June, but plan on a complete record for 2011.

According to goodreads, I've read 34 this year (I usually hit about 55, but had a baby in February, so that's slowed things down a bit).

In the summer of 2007 I had zero on my tbr list and was looking for reading recommendations, which is why I joined goodreads. This has significantly changed my reading preferences and my tbr list is out of control now.

I started the year with 267 books on my tbr and I currently have a list of 383, which means I've added 150 (that's the number less what I've read). Mind you, those aren't purchased books, those are just my list of books that look interesting. And that's after I culled it earlier this year. That number also only includes the first book in any series, so there's potential to add a bunch more titles just by liking what's already on my tbr!

It has taken me a couple of years, but I finally have my TBR list under control. I keep 2 or 3 queued up, but not the huge piles I had when I first started reading ebooks. I read what I want, but no longer feel compelled to get every freebie that comes down the pipe.

I plan to track mine also in 2011. THE TERMINATOR has started a group with a place to track them and stuff. Go to "groups" in your "user CP" section to join.

My TBR list does not seem to go down in any form as books are always added. This is a good thing really

I'm glad to see alot of people like me.

One of my problems is that as an Australian previously reading paperback only, I was accustomed to paying over $30 per book. I always felt I needed to justify the purchase - especially with so many unread books already in my shelves.

With ebooks sometimes costing as little as 0.99 I'm going nuts!

Additionally, I just downloaded the entire Cory Doctorow freebie list with books that I just hadn't been able to justify spending $30 for as a paperback.

I'm happier than the proverbial pig. However, I am accumulating a massive virtual bookshelf that, like my actual bookshelf, contains a lion's share of unread works.

On a side note, my partner recently had a jab at me for contstantly "evangelising" about my Kindle to anyone who'll listen.

Regards
Caleb
