Thanks for that, Donna - I've learnt something new, which is always good!

You're welcome, Harry. And yes - great thing about these forums - I learn new stuff all the time here, which, as you say, is always good! Heh... I originally thought the CSS remained intact inside MOBI files. It was from people here I discovered that wasn't the case, and found the tools to start digging into MOBI files to see what actually ended up in there. I can get a bit obsessive at times about wanting to understand exactly what's going on "under the hood".

Donna, that's interesting about mobicreator inserting inline formatting like that.

Though, I'd always had problems with justification. If I had 'text-align:center' in my CSS it would always fail and I'd have to do:
Code:
<p class="centered_text" style="text-align:center">
as a belt-and-braces solution to work on everything. Oddly enough though (and I THINK I'm remembering rightly) it failed for Stanza on the iPhone -- which is ePUB.

Anhyoo... thanks all for the help, yep I'll go read the MOBI docs.
Perhaps now I can even get formatting to work on an non-upgraded GreenBook!

Yes, was a bit of a revelation when I first used mobiunpack.py to look inside a MOBI file!

Note, though, that it was Kindlegen I used for that example, not Mobicreator. I expect the output is similar - possibly even identical - but although Kindlegen was based on Mobicreator, it's been updated since, so might create HTML in the MOBI file with slight differences compared to Mobicreator.

This is Mobi-specific syntax; it's not something that would belong in an ePub book. Hardly surprising that an ePub syntax checker doesn't like it.
