Well I don't think my love of reading was what first attracted my husband to me. But he did like that I did love to read. We don't read the same kind of stuff, but I think his enjoying reading technical manuals & magazines meant to me he did like to read. Just not as much as I do. He prefers movies & t.v. for entertainment.

I met my wife on the internet and it turned out that music was what got us first talking.
I read way more then she does. My mother is a good reader. I've read for a long time and fortunately, grade school did not put me off reading. |

Reading wasn't a factor in my attraction to my wife. I was in love with her from first sight! I met her at church, promptly asked her out and after two dates I asked her to marry me and she said "YES!"
![]() Next Feb will make 27 years together,,,, ![]() ![]() ![]() It was later on I found out she reads like I do, just different genres... She is getting a Nook classic for Christmas this year! |

I mean, no dating for a long time to learn about each other and then happily ever after. Fantastic! |

My husband said that my love of reading was very attractive. We knew each other for years before we started dating, and I wasn't very fond of him when I first met him, to be honest (he was very good looking and I mistook his shyness for arrogance and aloofness)! I finally started to get to know him better when he came to me to ask him to translate a book for him (a technical book for his bachelor's thesis). I told him that he didn't have to pay me for the work, but that I would like a book (a Croatian-English two volume dictionary) in return. 7 years later, he finally bought me the books with money that we got from our wedding gifts. So in a way, books brought us together.
He wasn't a big reader when we first started dating, but over the years he became one. I'm glad to see that he picked up at least one good habit from me (He also picked up my messiness - he used to be a neat freak! Honestly, who goes from being a neat freak into a messy person?). |

I'm a bookworm; I think books are among the greatest things in the world. I usually prefer reading a good book to watching television. My girlfriend, on the other hand, doesn't own an ereader; she prefers to watch sports (football, baseball, hockey, etc.), which I have little interest in. Reading doesn't really play a part in our relationship. We like different things, and that's fine.

I think that the person I am because I'm a big reader made me more attractive to my beau. He has a degree in film, so movies have always been his passion but he'll read when he needs to. Ironically, he's a much faster reader than I am. Unlike myself, he has no problem sitting down and reading a thick manual from beginning till end, but gets bored reading a novel.
Knowing how much enjoyment I get from reading, he encourages my habit when he can. When the Sony PRS 600 came out, he said he'd buy it for me because he had been thinking of buying me a present, but didn't know what to get. A few days ago, I told him that I was thinking about getting the Kno, but was trying to justify the large purchase. After seeing how enthusiastic I was about it, he said he'd buy it as my Xmas present. I was surprised because I had just picked up a new Sony 650 the week before. He said he was so proud of me for going back to school and felt that anything that would help me with my school work was well worth the investment. |
