Thanks! We are an American military family and will want to download books in English. When I was in Italy this past spring, my Kindle downloaded just fine. We'll have an American account so that shouldn't be a problem.
It doesn't look like Nook will be a good choice for my daughter. Now to decide which Kindle to purchase for her! I'm half tempted to give her mine and get the new one for me!

I think you cannot get or shipped a Nook overseas, but I could be wrong. Having said that, downloading books from B&N or Amazon (to your local drive) is the easiest thing ever so once you get the device that should be totally transparent for you.

You should check both online libraries and compare prices and book's availability. Some people find Amazon bookstore more complete, others B&N, so your purchase should be based on that. I believe Amazon is a more international device but please weight your decisions on the kind of books she likes.

Both are the best e-readers you can buy at this moment, with Sony 650 at third place, in my opinion.

EDIT: this thread can also help you: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=110429

If not living in USA, it looks like you need a local address for downloading Nook books.

If Kindle works for you in the past, and you are happy with it then stay with Kindle. Kindle 3 would be best due to better technology and firmware.
