I always used to read my Sony in its case, because even when I put it down I know I'm inherently clumsy enough I could bang into it, so something between me and the screen always seemed a good idea. Also, the Sony was a lot slippier than the Kindle, which is something I like about the Kindle - it doesn't feel like it's going to scoot out of your hand.

So, yeah, it's very likely indeed given past experience that I would keep the Kindle in its cover. It does that thing of making you feel like you're reading a regular book, somehow.

Get the hemp cover then It being tight is a good thing if you intend to keep it in its case. And trust me it feels great to hold.

Good to know, neon - I ordered one just five minutes ago. Looking forward to getting my hands on it.

I like the naked touch, but unfortunately the back panel in my K3 is somewhat "loose" right at the back of the side buttons. So when I hold it it somewhat recedes and annoys me a lot. So I'm thinking about buying a cover that I could use easily for reading (not too heavy or bulgy).
I leave my cover on all of the time. The Kindle just seems safer that way, having dropped a book or two while I have been reading them. The extra weight doesn't bother me and I like the feel of the leather. A lot of people prefer to read the Kindle while it is naked, as you seem to. If the looseness of the back panel annoys you (sorry you have this problem - perhaps you should contact Amazion CS for replacement as this is a defect) there are minimalist covers you could get, such as this one (it comes in different colours):

garygibsonsf -I hope you let us know how you like it when you receive your Hemp cover. Congratulations!

Another vote for the moleskine cover. Got mine a week ago, and it's quality, and v good value at £23 from amazon.co.uk

Thanks OakIris.
I'll check it out. I only need the cover for reading (I have something for carrying it) because the creaking sound is annoying.
Do you think that they would replace the Kindle only because of this?

Amazon is only a phone call or email away. Give it a shot. Reading for many needs to a quiet, hence the issue with page forward/backward buttons being nearly silent. A creaking kindle could drive some folks nuts (I live with one!!!!)

Like KindleKitten, I'm a big fan of the Oberon covers, but I'm also not sure about the cost of shipping them overseas, and if you had a problem (it happen sometimes), shipping it back could be a pain.

That said, both my Kindles wear Oberon, and I've just ordered one for my iPad.

Well, I would definitely contact Amazon CS about it; a loose back cover has been reported by some Kindle owners but it is not a universal problem. I would consider it a defect and a possible sign of other problems that might develop. It does no harm to contact them... You have a Kindle so that you can enjoy reading; you shouldn't have to worry about the back cover falling off or deal with the distraction and annoyance of a creaking cover!

Off topic: @WT Sharpe - I love the way you have modified your avatar for the holiday season! Very cool.

Also, having seen videos of the disassembly of the k3, you might just have one of the clips that hold the case detached. Is a seam open on the side or top/bottom of your kindle? If so, you could try some gentle pressure at the opening and it might close the snap/clip.

I have the m-edge Executive Jacket and I LOVE IT. Its $40 (US$) but it was so worth it. I bought it at Best Buy when I bought my Kindle there. It fits the WiFi,latest generation model, which is what I have.

I'm kind of surprised that it hasn't been mentioned yet--I really like the rooCase Folio Cover. Very nice leather cover. The price has gone up since I got mine, but it's still significantly less expensive than an Oberon (*I* certaibnly couldn't justify that expense), and even less than M-Edge.

I had a cellphone sleeve shipped to Belgium a while ago, shipping and import fees were a little over 13$. Which is about 9,5€. I sometimes have to pay the same amount when ordering something from a Belgian company. I don't think I'd have any problems shipping back to the US.

I ordered a Kindle 3 last week (won't arrive until February ), because I want to be able to buy from the Amazon store. I'm definitely going to get an Oberon cover for my Kindle as well, they're really beautiful !
