I just picked up the anti-glare SP. After reading here, I think I'm going to take it back and swap for the shiney SP. I'd prefer to have shiney, without losing screen image quality.

I apologize for sounding cheap here, but does $18 seem a bit much for a couple sheets of sticky plastic? Sheesh.

Has anyone had a chance to compare the anti-glare and the regular protector side by side? I am guessing that it's similar to laptops that have a gloss finish vs. the matte finish.

I dropped by the local B&N last night to see what their in-store NC's looked like with screen protectors. None of their demo units had any screen protectors, nor were they even remotely interested in putting them on their units to demonstrate/show.

I picked up a AG the day after my NC was delivered, OMG my fingerprints were all over the screen. I read outside a lot while the kids are playing or waiting outside school/panera so the AG has definitely helped with glare and the fingerprint issue.

The screen is still bright & clear with the protector applied. I used a 30% off coupon on the AG prot....mmm I think it was less than $13usd.

I've had the anti-glare screen protector on for a little more than a day now. I like it. It has the typical look of an anti-glare matt screen so it is pretty good for reading. Just a slight fuzziness but in my case it more than offsets for the mirrored glare. I also noticed that the screen was a fingerprint magnet before I installed the anti-glare screen protector. Now fingerprints are considerably less noticeable. My screen sensitivity seems about the same and the brightness seems about the same as well. So far it has been a positive experience.

On the beach on Maui right now and the antiglare protector works great for reading in the brigbt sun. Much cleaner screen too.

i love the antiglare. It's not too bad with images and keeps the fingerprints away

I'm with Mare of Earth: I put my anti-glare protector on the Nook as soon as I took it out of the box (while it was charging). I haven't regretted this at all. I have a screen protector on my Android phone so I am used to the idea of an extra piece of plastic between finger and screen. It's worth the small cost (and small loss of sharpness) for the pristine clean screen, IMO.

The slight fuzziness you described, in your experience would it cause any eye strain because the letters are less "sharp"? Also how is the browsing/movie watching with it on?

Oh sure...rub it in why don't ya? Maui... I WANNA BE IN MAUI!

On a serious note...you are the first person I've seen post that you are reading outside in direct sunlight. Not an issue? That's my one concern...I want a reader I can use inside and outside though outside would be only in the summer on vacation (and likely sitting under an umbrella).

I read a few hours last night without any eyestrain. My term "fuzziness" wasn't a good one, but I'm not sure exactly how to describe it in words. The words and letters remain sharp but their is a slight noticeability that something is now on top of the screen between my eyes and the text. But the longer I read the less I noticed it. I suspect that after a few days I will no longer notice it as my eyes adjust to reading with the anti-glare screen protector on.

I ended up getting the anti-glare when I exchanged for another nook. Completely ruined the first protector, then finally got the 2nd one on without too much dust under it. There are a few little particles but not too bad. I will say that the sharpness of the screen is definitely less than without the protector. That said, I haven't seen the regular protector but the anti-glare one does a fantastic job at keeping fingerprints away, the nook always looks fairly clean! The glare is noticeably less, but not completely gone. Overall I love it, I just wish the protectors were cheaper that way I can go through a few more until I got one on perfectly without any dust particles under it.
