thaigreg,

if you got that message you must check that you have a folder named "reflash_nor" at the root of your SD card.

Inside that folder you must have, at minimum these files:

mtd1
mtd2
mtd032
mtd064

The lack of the folder or any of these files gives the message "Necessary files missing"

Hi jorlando,

I have those folders and more and they all read "Incompatible format". Also this folder is on my SD card.

The "Incompatible format" message is ok. Even jetbook's SD Card file manager can only recognize book formats as valid. Everything else is "Incompatible format"

The folder is in the root of the file card? If it is you may have a corrupt filesystem card. Reformat as FAT and reload the firmware files in it.

Hi jorlando,

I've done that, but when flashing the update the jetbook logo appears I release the on/off button and continue to the OK button. The page with the stack of books appears each time and the light stops flashing and nothing more happens.

That is the problem! It is not the OK, at the center of the arrows, button that must be pressed.

Is the right arrow button ( |> )

Reset jetbook, hold right arrow ( |> ) and power. When the logo screen appear release only power button.

A screen with instructions will appear. Release the right arrow.

Press OK to update firmware.

You are absolutely correct. I was pushing the wrong button. Everything processed correctly. Thank you both jorlando and Ken for your much needed advice and patience.

So now you have software v0.16e Patch v16, right?

If so you may want to use the USB cable to copy the internal memory to a folder on
a hard drive of your PC. That way you will have a copy of the ".adobe-digital-editions"
so that you can recreate a fresh JBL for ADE.
