yeah I started counting backwards 8 hours +1 instead of counting forward, now I actually got a chance to be ready placing an order

the same thing happens here in the u.s. a week or so ago, there was a robot with a great discount. i took a few minutes to decide whether or not to buy it, and it was already sold out - and that was before 12:10 am.

There's been a lot of anger here in the UK - they had a series of "Black Friday" style sales running on Amazon UK on Monday (possibly all week, I'm not sure), and many items appear to have been sold out within seconds (quite literally) of an item going live in the sale. Ridiculous I clicked right after the deal was released and I still didn't manage to get one. There must have been very few in stock

I thought of getting one, but decided to just watch and noticed it was gone in under 6 minutes. Not even a wait list.

I got the wait list but what's the point, I don't want to stand on a wait list. Well I'll have to come up with something different as a Christmas present.

I'm starting feel very lucky that I snagged one! Once you put it in your cart you have about 15 minutes to complete the sale. I guess that is where the waitlist comes in. If someone doesn't complete the sale fast enough it goes to the next person in line.

It was a very good deal so they probably had tons of users waiting to get one.

It's almost always been like this. If it's a really hot item, it will be sold out almost instantly.

For a while Amazon combated this by doing lotteries. You just entered at the given time and they would pick out who got the chance to buy them randomly.

But for some reason, they stopped doing that, I guess.
