I hate itunes with all my guts. That's why my first ipod was one and only and had to spend the rest of its days with bunch of junk. Oh, wait, it is still there.
So, I had to make myself install itunes in order to update the ipad. I still have ripples of revulsion convulsing me. I know it is just software but I can't help it. |

I downloaded it monday am and am very pleased so far. No hiccups. Love having Pandora plaYing in the background while typing this. Haven't noticed any major battery drainage with apps in the background but then I am pretty vigilant about closing programs all the way down when not using them. Folders are awesome! Four pages of apps now all nicely organized into folders on my homepage.

+ Background tabs in Safari generally don't reload as often.
+ Youtube app shows all my subscriptions now (and actually loads them). + Global access to brightness setting. + Folders. + Can play Pandora in the background. ~ Setting the orientation lock takes a little longer, and interrupts video playback, but is more accessible while my iPad is in its zip case. ~ Application switcher does certainly make switching between apps easier. Though the process of clearing it out feels rather cumbersome. Also I'm not sure if it is because of ios 4.2 or the recent firmware update I made to the router, but my iPad's wifi connection seems less stable. Last edited by Dylrob; 11-25-2010 at 02:27 AM. |

I thought I was the only one that felt that way about killing apps. Also I'm ok with it, but the fact that absolutely everything goes into multitasking is for some apps retar... *ahem*... not so intelligent (looks at his weather app >_>) in my personal opinion it would have been more intuitive if you had like double click = kill, single click = dock into multitasking.

1st Check if you are running the latest iTunes - it's V 10.1 2nd i am pretty sure you'll have to update to 10.1 3rd after you plugin in your iPad you can force your iTunes to check for updates by going to your device page on the left side and choose the "check for updates" button now Pretty sure you'll also get your update now. Important for this update is having iTunes 10.1 and it is always good to remember that iTunes not always check for updates each time you plugin you device by default. But you can force iTunes to do so! ![]() |

I thought so myself as well first, but after using ios4 for a while i have realised that you don't have to worry about killing the apps in the background, it wont slow down your iPad at all. After all its not real real multitasking, the apps won't stay 100% active in the background, so you dont have to worry about it.

This was all before 4.2, so have no idea what suddenly changed after 6 months. Haven't had a problem since. (two computers and an iPhone were having no problem with the password before I changed it -- only the iPad). Anyway. For what its worth, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. |

I should have learnt by now, delete as much data as possible off my ipad before updating it or otherwise book a holiday as that thing is going to take about a week to backup a mere 25gb.
