That's correct, but the point I was making is that if you just install the update, and don't install it on top of the correct BD 4 installation, you get a "Sony Reader" option but it doesn't work.

Just want to add that I have the same issue.

Installed the .msi, copied the contents of BookDesignerExe.zip over the top of it. Everything else works, except clicking the 'Reader' option does nothing.

I took ownership of the folder and have complete access to everything in there. Still no dice. Also changed a lot of the offending executables to run in xp compatibility mode.

Does it work if you switch off the increased user account security in Vista? If it does, that would indicate that it's a file access permissions issue. I have a vague memory of vvv (BD's author) saying that the "Make Sony Reader" option creates temporary files in the ROOT of the C: driver. Perhaps it's those permissions which are the issue?

BookDesigner & Windows Vista
BookDesigner не мог работать под новой операционной системой Windows Vista. Проблема заключалась в отсутствии библиотек DHTML Editing Control for Applications Redistributable Package. Для устранения проблемы скачайте с сайта Microsoft файл DhtmlEd.msi и установите его.

Скачать: DhtmlEd.msi

It could not work under the new operating system Windows vista. Problem consisted in the absence of libraries DHTML Editing Control for Applications Redistributable Package. For eliminating the problem download Microsoft file DhtmlEd.msi and will establish it.
Note you can download DhtmlEdmsi here:

These issues are the reason I'm staying with XP Pro. I want my Sony tools to work.

There is nothing in Vista that makes it worth the switch for me. I still have a laptop running Win98SE and one computer in Win2kPro. The reat are in WinXP and I expect to stay there for a long time. Microsoft has already promised support for WinXP to about 2012 so I should be good for a while.
